if they were both just people you knew, you would reckon they were alright looking, it's the fact that they are princesses that you think they should somehow be judged against a tougher scale.

Not really, I care little for royalty per se.
Beatrice is just wrong, maybe not really what you'd call ugly, but here eyes are wrong and she gives me The Fear, at least in pictures. Her sister is quite nice looking though and I would do her, and I have quite high, if some times odd, standards in this regard.
