Apologies, techy help needed by utterly computer illiterate idiot
How do I set an Adobe pdf as my backdrop? If the control panel on my computer, which I've tried, is oddly uncooperative?

In the spirit of the thread, everyone who can't or won't help me is a cunt
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:38, 8 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
Take a screenshot using Paint or something
Save out as a graphics file then set as backdrop

Cunt
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:39, Reply)
Yeah, I've saved it in Paint
but it keeps saying "you must save the file before you can set it as a backdrop".

I suspect my computer is the biggest cunt of all.
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:43, Reply)
You should save the file.

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:44, Reply)
What extension as?

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:45, Reply)
I don't even understand these words in that combination

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:48, Reply)
When you took the screenshot into Paint and clicked the ickle disky picture
it asks you for a name and a File type. Now precious, can you remember:

a. Where you saved it?
b. What as? (.gif, .jpg, .bmp, .png?)
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:49, Reply)
Aha
It's saved on my desktop as a jpg
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:52, Reply)
Then you are sorted
You should be able to pick this as a background now

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:57, Reply)
Every time I try to set it as a backdrop from Paint it gives me that rhetoric about saving it
Which I have. Repeatedly. Doesn't work via Picture and Fax viewer or Control Panel either.
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 16:00, Reply)
There may be some kind of policy on your work PCs that prevents this
Can you choose any of the different standard backgrounds?
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 16:01, Reply)
Nah
Plenty of my colleagues have different backdrops though, I might just need our tame IT bloke to perform some wizrdry on it.

2: print PDF
3: stick pdf to screen

Or this

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:40, Reply)
You what?
Backdrops are usually pictures not files. You need a PDF reader to read a PDF so you can't usually have one as a backdrop.

Right
Go to PC world
Ask them for the deluxe PC package with extra RAMS and an ultra fast monitor.
Pay technician to plug it in for you
And then pour a cup of coffee on it

Tahdah! All your PDF backdrop through control panel needs are solved

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:46, Reply)
Why do you want a PDF as a backdrop anyway?

Close paint
Open saved file in windows picture and fax viewer
Right click picture and select set as desktop background
buy Phil a pint, he likes beer
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:46, Reply)
Picture of Ms Foxtrot from a photoshoot we did in London
I probably will buy you a pint for the effort - it's not working, but I suspect that's my work PC being gash, perhaps the person who sat here before me had some sickening picture of his missus as the backdrop and the access was removed as a result
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:50, Reply)
Email it to me and I'll send back a pic you can set

(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:52, Reply)

I'm guessing it isn't THAT kind of pic!
Not as a PC background at work anyways
(, Tue 20 Sep 2011, 15:53, Reply)
I set a picture of my then girlfriend in an interesting position as my desktop at home once.

PDF is a document, not a picture.
So setting a PDF as your desktop background wouldn't work, methinks.
