Which price did they refund?

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:22, 1 reply, 14 years ago)
The price I bought it at.
I plan on being more careful with my money for a while. I'm not at Montyesque levels of debt but I've been too profligate with my spending and I need to rein it in for a bit.

Me too.
I think the last two weeks has cost me over a grand. I did have most of it saved up in advance, but my bank card is still smoking a bit now. I'm too scared to go and see what the balance is. I am very much afraid it will be a pretty shade of red.

Had to pay £6500 student loans for step-daughter recently
and finally cleared overdraft this month. Two cars, kitchen and mortgage to go now!

We have decided on a small party when the mortgage dips below £100K
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:25, Reply)
Why did you have to pay them?
I finish paying my student loan next month! I will then be £157 better off every month!

I shall spend it on sweets and trousers!
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:28, Reply)
Haha!

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:29, Reply)
Sweets!!!111!

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:30, Reply)
We didn't have to but we had saved up to do exactly that

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:30, Reply)
That was very nice of you
To be fair, my parents paid my rent while I was at Uni
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:31, Reply)
I lived with mine
and managed to get away with only about 3K in student loans.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:32, Reply)
When I left polytechnic I had an overdraft of £500.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:33, Reply)
aye, but back then that was enough to buy a house.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:55, Reply)

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:33, Reply)
£157?!?!
I pay mine back at £20 a month...
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:35, Reply)
It goes by how much you earn doesn't it?

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:36, Reply)
I think so, never had any

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:39, Reply)
I am still deferring mine after many many years.

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:39, Reply)
Yes, it does
but there may be other factors involved and that's worried me. I can't really afford for them to take much more than they do.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:40, Reply)
God you must earn tuppence a month ;)

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:40, Reply)
You're not far wrong
it's a shameful fucking pittance, especially for a graduate wage.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:41, Reply)
Oh dear, what do you do?

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:42, Reply)
beg

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:45, Reply)
I heard the Romanian beggars in London make £500/day
and live in luxury

Research scientist
I think I once worked out that I'd get paid more as a trainee manager in McDonalds. Tennis boy is on £5k a year more than me and all he does is hit a ball over a net ffs. (his words not mine)
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:47, Reply)
No money in useful areas like that
come and work for a marketing agency, we'll pay you right up
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:48, Reply)
It may yet come to that
I'll never earn more than £25k doing what I do, no matter how many years experience I have. Shit, eh?
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:50, Reply)
Our grads start on £27k + golden hello + benefits and bonus...
Do you at least get some job satisfaction?
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:52, Reply)
Fucking hell, that's good

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:57, Reply)
well if you want the best...
anyway we had about a 500 apply and hired 30, so it's pretty tough, alos this is London not the provinces!
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:59, Reply)
For a grad it is excellent

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 13:00, Reply)
Bloody hell that's nearly £10k more than my current salary
*weeps* mind you, I will be getting substantially more when I go to Oxford, simply because it's so fucking expensive there.

Erm. Yes, sometimes I get job satisfaction. It's hard work and can be stressful but I enjoy it; sometimes I wonder if I'd rather have a job I didn't much like but which demanded nothing of me except my time.
(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 13:01, Reply)
Now that I'd do

(, Thu 22 Sep 2011, 12:51, Reply)

But I don't mean a coat made of labs.
