it is a bit silly, but I suppose it's good on ballance, that the council is being made to abide by the letter of the law
even if, in this case, the case seems pretty clear.

My pal Steven was in that (also Band of Brothers and is playing Capone in a big budget film coming out soon)
As a result I sold Brad Pitt 2oz of weed.
Really, really shit weed that no-one else wanted - nicknamed 'Subbuteo' as it was bright green. He thought it was 'really good'.
THE END.

I'm surprised you had the energy to do so.
Why were you not at home resting your old bones?
In case you're wondering, I'm mocking you for pulling out of Wednesdays super happy fun time.

If they were 'proper' travellers
ie 'New Age Travellers' (c) the 1980s, then I'd be right behind them, scoring some drugs. As it is they are gyppos and under Hitler rules must therefore be exterminated.

If they were New Age Travellers circa 1980s
they'd have just arranged for daddy to "have a word" at the golf club and all the planning stuff would have been brushed under the carpet.

One of the chaps I used to knock about with back then was a classic one of those.
He was a semi-vagrant and his dad owns half the Isle of Man (or something).

It would be half of America.

I know where you're coming from
but it's not really about obeying the letter of the law, is it? it's about a series of more and more highly-paid lawyers finding tiny loopholes, costing shitloads of taxpayers money. Because the council have to pay for their lawyers, whereas the travellers aren't. And won't be able to when they inevitabley get costs awarded against them, so the council/taxpayer will never get to recoup the hundreds of thousands being wasted on stupid appeals.

I think the thing is that I don't really care that much.
But I generally think it's a good thing when the government/council forced to go through the same level of rigmarole that the rest of us usually are when we have to resort to the law.
I think people are also biased because they dislike the 'travellers' in this. I'm fairly neutral, I'm not predisposed to like shitty fake hippies or people enforcing planning regulations.
