If you soak the turkey in brine for 48 hours or so they're chompable

I've heard this but I remain unconvinced
I just cover it in butter and bacon, surround it with pigs in blankets, potato, sweet potato and parsnip and it seems to come out nicely

I love parsnips
Probably the most underrated part of the roast. Either that, or broccoli.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:29, Reply)
Not a fan of broccoli
Probably as the kids both love it and so we end up eating it most days.

I've just had one of those Innocent Veg Pot things - thai curry. It was quite nice

I'm quite a fan of the stuff.
I wouldn't mind having brocolli or sweetcorn with most meals.

I had some nice cod last night
Not had fish for a while

To celebrate payday, I had fish & chips for tea on Monday
Felt rather sick afterwards, as the portions are massive.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:34, Reply)
Fish and Chips can be amazing or shit
You never seem to get meh
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:35, Reply)
I always like them until about halfway through
then think meh.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:41, Reply)
I prefer it when you get a small portion
and really enjoy it, than when you have a massive slab of fish that in the end you're only eating because it's there.

My nearest chippy is quite good
but about 5 mins drive away in Tynemouth is one called Seashells which is fucking amazing. Their fish taste so good and are massive, meaning you nom until the end

The nearest chippy to me is absolutely excellent
When it burned down a couple of years ago, I (along with most of Macc) was quite gutted, but now it's reopened, it's all good!
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:54, Reply)
Gutted lols

Roast parsnips are delicious

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:32, Reply)
Especially when coated with wholegrain mustard.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:35, Reply)
+ honey + thyme
Or even a tiny bit of cumin

*strikethrough ahoy*
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:35, Reply)
Oof, that does sound good.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:53, Reply)
I've done it two years in a row.
It makes a cheap turkey taste expensive and an expensive turkey taste amazing.
It stops it drying out as well.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:32, Reply)
How salty would the brine need to be?
I'm very tempted to do this. Do you need to rinse it off again afterwards?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:34, Reply)
Very salty, you're looking at a packet of salt in a bucket of water.
You put other shit in there as well www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/nigella-lawson/spiced-and-super-juicy-roast-turkey-recipe/index.html
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:35, Reply)
If you haven't got somewhere outside to keep it then chuck ice cubes in twice a day.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 13:37, Reply)
Cheers
That sounds fucking lovely!
