Whelp! time to start a new thread
Imagine you've got a hot guy/girl round for tea.

1. A song that you should play
2. A song you should definitely have removed from 'shuffle' before they got there
3. The song you finally get some to

this could be a youtube disco, too, if you like.

alt: should I open some wine?

Ooh, I like this
1) Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats (one of the best covers I've ever heard)
2) Behemoth - Ov Fire And The Void
3) Rammstein - Links 2 3 4 (What, it gives you a good rhythm to go with!)

Alt: Yes.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 20:42, Reply)
i wish that first one hadn't been used
in a phone ad.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 20:58, Reply)
It's how I heard it in the first place, but it's an excellent tune.

(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:00, Reply)
Rammstein were one of the best live acts I've ever seen
And that's even with my stupid friend booking us seats for the gig.

that orb one is 40 minutes long
so you could have a listen to the last 35 minutes once you're done
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:01, Reply)
So's the Merzbow one, but the uploader split it into several parts.

(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:02, Reply)
If she's in a bit of a soppy mood, then I'd play.
Starfaddu - Let It Out
Charlene Soraia - Wherever You Will Go
Donno, Will Smith - Getting Jiggy With It?
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:12, Reply)
I'll second that Jose Gonzalez tune
as I love it to bits. There are many things on my itunes not fit for general consumption. Probably Wigfield - Saturday Night. (what? it was on a 90s compilation!)
Last one, hmm. Nina Simone - I want a little sugar in my bowl.

Answer to the alt is a massive vicarious yes. I'm still a good half an hour from home. /sigh
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:33, Reply)
Gonzalez' cover was meh
He's an accomplished guitarist but one bloke + acoustic guitar is dull, dull, dull. Especially when the original song is pretty unusual.

Bleh, I came over all Dozer, there.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:59, Reply)
Oh, I really like The Knife as well
but Jose Gonzalez is more, I dunno, ambient. Background date-y sort of music. Like Jack Johnson, I suppose.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 23:04, Reply)

1. Apartment Story - The National
2. Bitches Ain't Shit - Dr. Dre
3. Abbaon Fat Track - Tricky *

* most of Maxinquaye would do but this one is filth.

alt: get it in yer.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:38, Reply)
The National have been growing on me for a while
Not sure why. I feel like I shouldn't like them, but there'sjust something about it
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:08, Reply)
it took me a while to get used to it
the first I heard of them was Mistaken For Strangers from the album Boxer and when I got the full album there was nothing else like it on there so I kind of put it to one side and left it alone for a month or two. Now I adore it and the Alligator album. I haven't got the latest one yet but there are some really good ones on there too.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:35, Reply)

1: Oleta Adams
2: Nimoy
3: Iron Butterfly

Alt: As long as it's a day that ends in 'y'
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 21:39, Reply)
the weird thing is
after all these yeses, I got distracted by firefly and forgot the wine
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:05, Reply)
ohyeah - I've got that nimoy on my itunes, too

(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:06, Reply)
Hmmm.
1. Fuck knows.
2. Fuck knows.
3. Fuck knows.

I haven't had a bloody date in years.

Alt: if you save me a glass, yes.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 22:49, Reply)

I think as long as you play tracks you like, or have a reason to play, then almost anything is OK.
However, I would say:
2) Anything by Michael Jackson
People have weird and contradictory views about his music, so whether the person you invited likes it or not it could still be a bad thing to play.
(, Fri 11 Nov 2011, 23:52, Reply)

1. Terrible canyons of static by gybe
2. Next to you by Christ brown
3. Back off bitch by guns n roses
