The thought of anyone being unpleasant to my daughter makes me freak out.
She's so open and friendly, when we go to the park etc she introduces herself to other children and almost all of them stare blankly back at her. Even the English-speaking one(s). I cannot describe the feeling this engenders in me.

Alt: because he is mentally ill. I don't have that much of a problem with the chap, despite how it appears. I just want a Bertdown.

I can't comment on how you feel as a parent but when teaching and the kids are in my care I do feel fiercely protective over them.

The poor wee mites have a foul world to contend with.
That in itself is massively upsetting to me.

This is why I am mightily perturbed by the Santa Claus dilemma.
Do I lie to my child and tell her it's all true? I don't want to be dishonest with my own child (and I have a massive inability to lie - it freaks me out). Or do fabricate a lovely, fluffy world of fluffy Christmas loveliness which can be cruelly shattered at a later stage?
#firstworldproblems, etc.

My parents did the thing of saying "yes dear santa exists"
in a sarcastic tone, so when I learnt about sarcasm I learnt the truth.

Do the Santa Claus thing
Seeing the kid's faces around Christmas is amazing. You can turn their world to shite later on

My inclination is to tell mine the truth.
It's a small step from 'Santa' to 'Jesus' in my mind.

I tend to agree.
Am currently on the side of "some people believe this but the evidence suggests..."
Still, no matter what I do, at some point she'll accuse me of ruining her life. *shrugs*

You're over analysing.
Go with your instinct. 9/10 you'll be spot on.

This is why we told the kids the alarm sensors were what Santa watched them with
to make sure they were being good. Red LEDs FTW!

Polite is the word.
Your 'ignore' button appears to be faulty.

A friend of mine's daughter
has been so mollycoddled by her mother and extended family that on a rare occasion when she was allowed a sleepover at her dad's, when asked what kind of pizza she wanted for dinner, she burst into tears because she was so unused to making any choices for herself.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 14:59, Reply)
Oh dear.

I know.
He was gobsmacked.

Hahaha, ain't no way my child is going to be that sheltered.
For starters, all pizza is mine and mine alone.

Be careful that those olives aren't, in fact, a present from Catface.
