You're missing out on a big one by Storm Queen.
Your loss buddy.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:37, Reply)
I think I'll be ok
I have music here
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:40, Reply)
Have this one instead.

I'm onto this lovely little number now

Saw Aeroplane the Saturday before last. I say saw, I mean I was in the same room that he was DJing in and remember none of it.

For some reason this stupid thing will play Baz's links, but not yours.
Your assertion yesterday about this iPad being a quender was "on the money"
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:47, Reply)
It is indeed a reference quality quender.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:50, Reply)
You should consider yourself lucky then.
And EVERYONE would get an iPad if they could afford one, myself included. It's the only reason everyone doesn't have one.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:50, Reply)
Are they quite good then?
I thought they just looked nice.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:52, Reply)
They serve no actual purpose whatsoever.
Which is why most (again myself included) are hesitant to fork out five hundred quid for one. My cousin's got one, they're class for pissing about with on the sofa whilst watching tele. Also good when on train journeys or whatever. If half a grand wasn't a lot of money to you you'd get one without thinking.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:54, Reply)
I was looking at net books the other day for that very reason.
At less than £250 they looked quite useful, if not as pretty.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:55, Reply)
At that price you'd be lucky if they're still in one piece by the time you get them home.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:30, Reply)
Really?
Netbooks seem piss cheap.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
In my experience of cheap laptops, they work OK for a few months, then they basically become crippled and struggle to run any software more demanding than Notepad without crashing, turning themselves off or being subject to massive hardware failures.
In the worst cases, they literally fall to bits.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
To be honest, I don't need one.
It was just ticking the 'nice to have' list.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:48, Reply)
They're pretty nifty actually
I'm by no means a computer geek and pledge no allegiance to either camp in the whole Apple/PC quarrel, but I do like it switching on instantly and being ready to use immediately. Some effort has gone into making it quite slick.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:56, Reply)
I know little about them
But I thought they had next to no storage, so unless you write something and then e-mail it, you'd lose it.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:58, Reply)
I wouldn't know about that sort of thing
Apart from work, where technical stuff like that is someone else's job, I only use computers for pissing about on the Internet.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:01, Reply)
I've googled it
I listened to that track this morning. You were also correct about that.
Try not to let all this go to your head.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 22:50, Reply)
What, The Number Song?
Nice work.

What about Dr Octagon? Late 90s project, Kool Keith from the Ultramagnetic MCs and Dan the Automator.

Look up Bear Witness and Earth People.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:01, Reply)
I think I saw Kool Keith at the Autechre ATP in 2003
Did you go to that? The line up was right up your street.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:06, Reply)
I didn't and yeah it was.
I love autechre (well, their early stuff, when they weren't strangers to melody).
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:09, Reply)
It was an odd one for me
I was much more of an indie kid then and there was a lot of hip hop, which I struggled to relate to (inc Public Enemy, El-P) having no real reference points. There was lots of nice electronica, Aphex Twin's DJ set was amazing and Sunn o))) just confused me at first, but I later learned to love them.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:17, Reply)
I have nothing to add.
But I wanted to let you know I'm still here.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:18, Reply)
Jeff.
Autechre.

Started out doing crystalline, shiny, melodic electronica like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=eplM1QfyMsw

These days, strangers to a tune.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:20, Reply)
I've been listening to this woman this evening

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:25, Reply)
Now she was good!

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
She knew one end of a guitar from the other.
FACT.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
An indisputable fact.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:35, Reply)
I was looking for a 'starter' album to buy.
Fuck me, her recording career is immense.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:35, Reply)
It's unusual for someone from that period to have a "best album"
But there are usually pretty comprehensive collections available.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:39, Reply)
I'll read some reviews and make a purchase.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:42, Reply)
It's rare for me to recommend a Best Of... Album
But for someone like that you can often get nearly everything they've done on one compilation.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:48, Reply)
That would be perfect.
I shall hunt!
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:51, Reply)
This is how I feel during discussions about football.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:23, Reply)
What is your local professional football club?

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:24, Reply)
York City.
But football is for the lower classes, and the quenders.

I'll sit this one out.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:25, Reply)
Sit it out in your Stone Island jumper.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:26, Reply)
I'm offended by that.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:27, Reply)
ha!
You know I don't mean it.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:27, Reply)
I fucking hope not.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:28, Reply)
You're more of a Burberry man.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Coventry City
I kind of followed them during their brief glory days in 1987
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Well go to the odd game and if you still think it's bent, don't go no more.

(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:31, Reply)
Tried that.
It is and I don't.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:33, Reply)
Fair enough.
Can't say you didn't try!
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:35, Reply)
El-P is great.
How can you not get hip hop?

Weird.

And Sunn O))) are superb.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:18, Reply)
El-P was the first live hip hop I ever experienced
And though I kind of enjoyed it, like I said - I had no real reference points. I'm a white, English, middle-class indie kid.
Monoliths and Dimensions was one of my favourite albums of 2010. I saw them play with Om in Birmingham and it was amazing.
(, Thu 8 Mar 2012, 23:29, Reply)
My favourites are White 1 & 2 and Black One.
