It's bigger than a mini. It's plutonium battery can last over a decade. It has super high resolution cameras to spot rocks, it'll then shoot a laser at them and measure the emmisions to see what they're made of, if they're interesting enough they'll roll over and drill into them pick up the dust and put it through a bunch of tests in it's body.

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter had been commanded to attempt to image Curiosity as it was descending to the surface. Apparently the spacecraft has now sent data back to Earth and the images have been processed. We probably won't see the result until later today; NASA will hold its next press conference at 5pm UK time.
