I'm not a fan of a roast dinner. I like the leftover sandwiches, but thats about it.
I just find them all a bit dull, with the slight exception of when I really fancy one every 6 months or soo.

But while we've got a food thread going, I'm planning on doing a really posh meal for myself on saturday, to christan the kitchen. I'm thinking of doing calve's liver and crispy pancetta, fondent potatos, cripsy fried onions, onion puree and a sauce of some kind. I saw it on Master Chef Pros.

Anyone else got any good ideas for a good proper first meal?

I might start doing video-blog diary of food, as I want ot learn how to do basic video editing anyway.

Surely your kitchen should be havinga Bar mitzva?

A "breakfast bar" mitzvah if you will

Stick with that, Gonz.
You won't go far wrong. Don't over cook the liver, get the butcher to cut it 1.5cm to 2cm thick.

Take a ruler, they like it when you "help"

Thanks man, I do a pretty mean bit of liver. You're spot on, thick cut, and the pan should be as hot as it goes for a short time, just 'till you get a nice crust.
And I dust it with flour and a bit of seasoning, to help crisp it up.
