I got some smoked salmon that needs to get eaten today/tomo
So I'm going to do what I did on sunday which was to make a giant chorizo yorkshire pudding, and use that as a sandwich containing smoked salmon, aspagous and a dill'n'horseraddish sauce.

In reality, it sounds like a lot of bother, but it'll take max 15 minutes.

In reality it sounds fucking rank

Yorkshire pudding where I fry up some chorizo and use that to flavour the oil, and it gives you little crunchy bits.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:09, Reply)
I know we discussed the pudding cooking methods on faceache
but, seriously, some of those ingredients just don't go together. At all.

nah, I get the salmon and horseradish, just not the choriizo, dill, and yorkshires, rthat's all mental

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:17, Reply)
It's not a lot of horseraddish, same with the chorizo.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:20, Reply)
OK, so chorizo and horseradish are powerful flavours
smoked salmon, dill and asparagus are very subtle. Consequently, it's pointless combining them all.

You could probably make smoked salmon and horseradish go together. Wasabi goes with smoked salmon if done carefully. Certainly, dill goes with salmon, and probably with asparagus although I'm not conviced about that. Chorizo doesn't go with any of it. You'r flinging a strong, earthy, meaty flavour at something fresh and subtle. Not good.
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:15, Reply)
smoked salmon and hordradish is excellent
just a tiny wee bit though
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:16, Reply)
I would remove the chorizo element and after that I think it'd be good.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:17, Reply)
Would you?
Tell us about it.

I would remove my cock from my own arse but I'm enjoying bumming myself way too much.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:22, Reply)
I can't see what the asparagus is adding tbh
and it'd be a lot cleaner and fresher without the dill.
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:20, Reply)
Because I need at least some vegtable in my diet.
And it does work well.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:23, Reply)
So would Scarpe's arse, but he does so love things up there.

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:23, Reply)
With the chorizo, it's small tiny 0.5cm chunks, so you don't get it in every bite. And you don't get aspagous in every bite eaither.
The entire batter doesn't taste of chroizo, it just has a hint of the oils.

Smoked salmon and horseraddish (and beatroot) is very traditional, if you look up some stuff called Chrain you can see the jews have been doing it for ages.

It's esenchally a giant bilini.
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:19, Reply)
except a blini wouldn't have chorizo in it
whether you have it in every bite isn't really the point. It doesn't go. Ditto, the asparagus

If you like it, knock yourself out, but I doubt many others will. If you want to learn, properly learn, how to cook really good food it's important to understand what actually goes together as flavours in ways that appeal to everyone, not just you. Becuase, no offence, you like American sweets, so your palate may just not be the best indicator of what's good.

At the risk of souding less of a cunt
I think the concept's really quite cool - making a meal out of a blini - but you really don't need half the stuff that's in there.

Lose the chorizo, the asparagus and possibly the dill, serve it with watercress or rocket or something to get your greens, job done.
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:31, Reply)
There was only a very, very small risk of you sounding less of a cunt
but all the same well done for sidestepping it x
(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:54, Reply)
Out of interest, if I told you lobster and vanilla go together, what would you say?

(, Thu 22 Nov 2012, 16:44, Reply)
yeah, that would probably work.
you'd need to be careful not to use too much vanilla, and it would probably need to be in a cream-based sauce, but yeah, vanilla is subtle enough to complement the flavour of lobster.
