Snow related thread, any of you lot got the day off for adverse weather conditions?

Alt: Snow related joy, tell us about it?

Alt:Alt: Snow related woe, what happened?
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 7:41, 89 replies, latest was 13 years ago)
Alt: One time we had a massive power cut,
the alarms went off, so we were all promptly ushered out the building, along with three or four other office blocks, this quickly descended into an impromptu snowball fight with about 150 combatants, best snowball fight EVAH

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:16, Reply)
Best off luck, I know how our airports are as soon as we get a bit of snow

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:18, Reply)
I have never had a day off due to snow
"warning old man grumble approaching"

I am sure as a kid we never had fucking school closures for snow, it was great when it snowed aat school you could try a create those really slippery sliding patches and spend all break seeing who could go furthest...

Also no snow up here in the sunny delights of Morecambe Bay.

Highlight of winter at school was the
Teacher Vs pupil snowball fight
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:17, Reply)
We once blocked the gate to the teachers' carpark with massive snowmen
but they still managed to get in and teach us. Fucking 1980s teachers and their work ethic and volvos.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:18, Reply)
We made a massive cock out of snow at school. Complete with twigs from the hedge stuck around the base to look like pubes.
At the age of 39 I know how puerile this is. At the age of 13 it was the height of humour.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:20, Reply)
^^this
much lol watching the deputy head trying to kick it over and failing.
People used to "accidentally" put stones in the snowballs and break windows with them, when not aiming at the teachers and each other.

alright HH,
today is my day off anyway. I love a bit of snow, everything looks quite pretty, kids have something to do other than get in my way, and there are less people out doors. It's ace.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:43, Reply)
Are you putting your new Wellingtons into action today?

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:44, Reply)
I've been wearing them at least once a day since I bought them.
But today is their first taste of snow. I'll let you know how they get on.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:48, Reply)

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:50, Reply)
next do wellies?
I can't imagine they will be very good. The only thing I ever got from next was a pair of jeans, and the crotch fell out of them after about 2 months.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:53, Reply)
I get all my jeans and trousers from Next.
They seem to be the only shop that caters for women with curves.

Except, you know, Evans. And I can't shop there because I'm apparently not fat *enough*.

I don't. People go out for walks and talk to strangers.
They help strangers push their cars when they're stuck. They help strangers clear roads.

It's downright un-English, damn it.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:53, Reply)
maybe where you are,
No one in Oxford can afford to live here, so they're all out in the villages doing that shit. I'm going to the meadow, it'll be me, the dogs, maybe one or two other dog walkers, and that's it.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:56, Reply)
Weston has turned into a b3th tribute act.
No-one's working, all the schools are shut, and the inches are just piling on.

Have to go out in a minute though, to pick up his lordship from the garage. Should be fun. Especially since I have no rear screen heater in my car any more.
(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:53, Reply)
Ha, I chuckled.

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:54, Reply)

(, Fri 18 Jan 2013, 8:55, Reply)
No, but his car is.
In other news, Halfords are doing me an MOT next month for £27!
I expect their service will be shit.
