My mum rented a VCR player for £3 a month for about 15 yearsWhen it broke they always gave her a new one but jebuz £540 on a VCR, when she phoned them to cancel it because she had a DVD player they told her to just keep it. She still has it plugged in to the TV upstairs.

Depends how much and how long you intend to keep itI paid £850 for a 42" TV three years ago. I doubt its worth much now even though its mint. We have been together 7 years and in that time we have had 5 TV's and only have 2 of the five now, so renting would be a good idea if A. the price is right and B. you like to move with the times.

Uxbridge, being the town it is, has one of those places where you can buy cheap white goods/sofas/tellies/whatever, or get credit. The credit's for small amounts a month at an astronomical interest rate.
It's purely aimed at squeezing money out of people that can't really afford to buy things.
"Hey, you can buy this generic branded TV for 400 pounds! OR you can pay ten pounds a month for 40 FUCKING YEARS".

HD ready means it will accept a HD signal and display it, but that's all it meansit might only display it at a lower resolution though. "Full HD" is 1980x1080 pixels, some HDTvs are only 1366x720 or less. Depends if you have something that gives out full HD though.
A "HD ready" TV could be a SD display that accepts HD signals, and that would be legal.
