So one's been impressed by the citizen journalist style mobile phone footages that have/had been shared/share in the last few week. Do you think smart phones is making a difference to the covering of news and are this a good thing?

They got some footage from the department store opposite the second bomb yesterday.There was a lot of talk about them having identified him, but that's been redacted by the FBI.

Well it's hard to say really, because there's just so much shit camera footage out thereLike during the London bombings, oh look, blurry footage of the backs of peoples heads as they go up the escalators from the tube, thanks for giving this prime airtime BBC.
But I suppose it's just that there's so much more everything out there now, so if you want 'good' footage, like this or the amateur stuff at 9/11, you gotta take all the weeks of 'send in your snow pics' nonsense too.

I suppose so. To be honest I don't really understand why this stuff gets filmed anyway, maybe I'm just TOO LOLD but if I see something bad or amazing my first reaction isn't 'better get out my phone', it's 'WOWWWWWWWWW' or 'OH SHIIIIIIIIT'
