I've never been able to wrap my head around anything other than the simplest maths problems.
Long division is entirely beyond me, as is algebra.

I fucking loved algebra.

I'm considering a math A level part time this September.
I scraped a "c" in O Level, and would like to try something that I would find difficult, rather than something I'm good at, or find easy.
Differentiation had me bollocksed.

Or you could just get a job

Too busy mate.
College, part time business, just bought a new btl and am doing it up. The idea of sitting in an office or something, is a nono.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:39, Reply)
They normally put the letters in this order
BLT...
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:44, Reply)
Actually a BLT sounds all good.
Lunch?
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:57, Reply)
It's no fun unless you bite :(

(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:45, Reply)
What's a btl?

Basically it's Bear Pookie's fault that there is no affordable housing available for you.

Bunch of cunts innit.

Oi, Vey, always the blame.

A level maths is pretty easy to be honest.
But, it takes a lot of work, hours and hours of doing the same types of questions again and again. My A level maths teacher described it as like learning a language.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:38, Reply)
I do like the idea of being to write formula quite cool tbh.
It's like a foreign language to me presently.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:41, Reply)
Maths is fucking dull without context.
Working out how much flour you need for your cake is one thing, because you're gonna get cake. Working out how much server-space you need for your project is great, because you're going to get to launch a project...... but working out Blah Times Blah Devided By Blah is dull.

My aspergers side gets significant pleasure from answering a page of maths questions.
And knowing that they're all right.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:53, Reply)
I was doing this "Online quiz" thing with PHP (my main language), and I got a run of like 25 correct questions in a row until they asked what PHP Stands for, and I got it wrong.
Story of my life, that.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:57, Reply)
I remember Pie.
The round ones.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:34, Reply)
I'd much rather do advanced calculus or algebra than tell you what 16*7 is.
I don't get arithmetic, but generally pretty good at maths.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:37, Reply)
I simply don't have the head for it.
Spatial stuff I'm pretty good at, logic puzzles too. I just don't get maths.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:40, Reply)
Always a word problem too
"Tommy has 26 packs of 48 apples. He leaves 13 packs in the sun and half the apples inside the packs perish. How many apples is Tommy left with"

ARGH!

I can do stuff like that in my head.
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:41, Reply)
Yeah, I think Jason's suggestion that he might just be a bit thick is a reasonable one.

(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:43, Reply)
I consider that sort of problem more as a spatial problem than a maths problem
because you can break it down into "shapes" (for want of a better term, I'm not a synaesthete). Thinking of it like that rather than trying to find 48x13 suddenly makes it much easier.

10x48 = 480, 3x50-6=144 etc
(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:46, Reply)
I agree, this sounds more like autism than synaesthesia.

(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:47, Reply)
I'm on the internet, obviously I'm autistic.

Smells nice though

(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 11:54, Reply)
Yeah smells really orange

(, Thu 20 Jun 2013, 12:10, Reply)
I was never a maths person.
Still managed a c at GCSE mind. All A* to C grades

So nerr.
