I love cover songs
my favourite is probably The Lemonheads version of Mrs Robinson
let me know yours. the more distance, musically speaking, between the two artists the better.

Also love that album.
I have a couple of mates that are an acoustic duo. They did a fabulous, dreamy acoustic version of She Sells Sanctuary the other week.
The Sisters of Mercy version of Emma (Hot Chocolate)is probably my fav cover though. Or their version of Jolene. Or Gimme Gimme Gimme. Hell, Sisters covers just rock.

Any remake of Simon & Garfunkel
is going to be an improvement. Even Roseanne Barr couldn't help but be better than those twee little poufs.
The best cover I've heard of one of their songs was "Scarborough Fair" redone by the Medieval Baebes. Check it out.
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are invariably brilliant.

Oooh, lots.
Any thing by Ten Masked Men ("Hit songs in the key of AAARRGGHH!!!"), but particularly Gold, Vida Loca and Sweet Like Chocolate.
Conversely, anything by Richard Cheese, which is the same sort of thing only ass-backwards.
My all-time favourite will have to be the Goldfinger version of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven", it never fails to make smile.

'All along the Watchtower' by the late, great Jimi Hendrix
Its sen-fucking-sational
EDIT: Metallica's version of 'Turn The Page' was also brilliant

Technically not a cover, it's a mix
but I adore The Neptunes mix of The Rolling stones "Sympathy for the devil".

Nouvelle Vague's version of 'Making plans for Nigel'
This is my current fave - thanks to a cd kindly given to me by my Sprog.
Excellent version - check it out. I believe the whole album is covers, might find it myself if I can be arsed.
Talking of Xtc; my previous fave is their version of 'All along the Watchtower' from White Music - their first album. When I first heard it, I wasn't aware of any other versions, now I have Dylan, Hendrix and Paul Weller too on my iPod.

24 Hours
by Karma to Burn.
Originally by Joy Division.
It's fantastic. The main riff sounds amazing when it's been heavied up.

Don't Stop Movin'
(S Club Seven). Covered by Starsailor (I think). Awesome.
And Britney's 'Baby One More Time' done by Travis. I'm not a huge fan of Travis, but it's pretty good.

Did a great cover of Take Your Mamma Out on the Radio One Live Sessions (or whatever it was called).

'Mon the P.
Natalie Imbruglia's Shiver, Geordified and em-beautifulled by Maximo Park.
I haven't got the accent but those North East vowels come howling out regardless when I sing along.
