so, today i have been listening to at the the drive in
they are a band i really liked when i was in school and as it turns out, i still like them now

looking through my music collection though, i did like some shit in school. looks like i bought a few albums by system of a down, which i now associate with smelly goth clubs.

anyway, what did you like in school but are now embarrased to have anything to do with?

Not sure actually...most music I liked back then I still like...albeit not quite so fantatically.
I'm more embarrassed by the sort of person I was. Things I did and said. When I think about some of these things I cringe so much my skin starts to peel.

I think everybody does that, though, don't they?
Anyone with a hint of self-awareness, anyway.

When I think of my clumsy attempts at "chatting up" the "birds"...oh great, there goes the skin from my forearms.

One of the good things about me, that i've always been quite pleased with.... is that i'm not embarssed by what I like. I like whatever I like and don't care if other people think i'm an idiot.
There's some quote by Simon Pegg saying thats the sign of a true geek.

For example
- Hollyoaks, this, bubblegum flavoured stuff (except bubblegum), ITV sometimes, Offspring, alchopops, using a chopstick to scratch my back, supermatt....etc.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:49, Reply)
Lidl do a washing up liquid that smells like bubblegum.
True story.

(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:52, Reply)
It's actually really nice.
It's not marketed as bubblegum scent, in fact I think it's probably mallow rather than bubblegum.

Woh', i'm not entirely sure if I want to go to a cashpoint or if it'll be a bit much for me.

I too don't give a shit what people think of the things I like
Which is why I find those /links chaps so funny. RRAAGGGH YOU LIKE STAR WARS/GAME OF THRONES/STAR TREK/ANYTHING THAT'S CLEARLY QUITE GOOD!!! YOU MUST BE A COMPLETE PRICK!!!

I gave season 1 to my inlaws and said "just give it 3 episodes...if you don't like it after that, you never will"
Couple of days later they phoned me asking if I had the other seasons :)

Excellent series, I watched the first two episodes and stopped, as I wasn't hugely enjoying it
Got back into it a couple of months back, watched the entire thing over the space of about a week, superb.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:09, Reply)
I always use the "3 Episode Rule" when watching something new
But yes, GoT is very good. There seems to have beeen quite a bit of decent American TV over the last couple of years. US comedy has been really good too.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:11, Reply)
I use the 'Autistic Attention Span' rule.
If I'm not immediately entertained, I go back to counting and piling up old newspapers whilst being unable to maintain eye contact with my carers.

I remember watching it when it first started, and i thought it was a load of ballsack then.
But then, I'm not a fan of soaps.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:57, Reply)
Back then it was quite acceptable to watch it with the sound turned down
Now I'm older, the people in it look like children.

I liked Jungle music, I don't now.
Mind you, I still like The Strokes first album, and regard it as 'new' music, despite it being 12 years old.

I've always had eclectic tastes in music.
I still like most of the stuff I liked when I was younger, and I'm not ashamed to say I love shit pop. If I like what I'm listening to, then who cares if no-one else likes it?

Having said that, I did buy some shocking singles when I was at school. Heroes in a half shell, anyone?
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:52, Reply)
That was a song?

(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:56, Reply)
It was indeed

i bought that south park song, chocolate salty balls, when i was 10 or 11 because i thought it was the funniest song ever

With the b side of 'I'm Sailing Away'?
EDIT: Also, if you bought it at that age, you're only about a year older than me, fucking hell. I'm used to being the youngest by about 10 years.

Never listened to At The Drive In
As I've said many times, I've been a fan of System Of A Down for years, despite finding two of their albums to be complete shite.

I still listen to most of the same stuff, it's the way I dressed/held myself in school that bothers me nowadays.

Alt: Might spend the day watching it tomorrow.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:54, Reply)
I really liked the Offspring
and a bunch of other pop rock nonsense. Struggle to listen to it now, but not embarrassed about it. It's all part of growing up...
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:54, Reply)
like_d_ ? They're still awesome Days Go By is great.

(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:25, Reply)
I liked a LOT of disgraceful pop that shall remain nameless.
Thanks to the discovery of ecstasy, this soon diminished and was replaced with trance and house.

I also wore a lot of oversized clothing, but that was the 90's for you.

Alt. No.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 10:55, Reply)
You probably still do, you terrible bummer.
No shame in that mind, I'm still a fan of some shockingly bad pop music.
