It's the new collage season starting up soon....
If you'd suddenly won a grant to do an evening course for a few hours a week, and it's convinient for you to do it.... what would you pick?

It's not really doing the lesson in the view of getting a job, more just for a bit of fun.

You got any hobbies? I quite fancy doing a bit of archery.

Probably some sort of coding.

(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:46, Reply)
You don't really need to go on a course to do that if you just want to do it as a hobby.
There are vast amounts of info online.

Most of us programmers are really just professional googlers with basic programming skills.

I'd like to learn
a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.

Probably something in Media Studies.

Ben Affleck as the new Batman?

Sub thread
I'm very upset about this. If Zack Snyder isn't taking it seriously, then neither am I. Fuck him, fuck Affleck, and fuck a third thing that I have yet to decide upon.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 12:08, Reply)
Im not going to put it to bed just yet.
People said awful things about Ledger as The Joker and he pulled it out of the bag.

The Batman he is playing is retired Bruce Wayne.

Hmm. He knows he can't mug it up.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 12:16, Reply)
Thing is, they can't do dark, brooing, disturbed Batman, because it won't fit with the JLA stuff they're planning
And if we wanted cartoon-y Batman, we'd wacth Adam West or any of the cartoon shows. I think they're desperate to compete with Avengers and have left it too late. Also, who wants to watch a movie of each of the following:
Wonder Woman
The Flash
Aquaman
and so on. Answer? NO ONE. They're better off carrying on with Batman and Superman as separate entities.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 12:22, Reply)
It will be loosely based on a frank Miller novel from what I can tell so will be similar to Bale in DKR
Hopefully without that horrid voice.

I liked him in DareDevil.

I did too but this is apparently not a cool thing :(
Daredevil had massive plot flaws

Everyone slated Heath Ledger, but he was great as Joker.
I still ain't seen the last batman yet.

I'm getting really fucked off, Gonzo.
I want an in-car phone dock. Not a shit cradle thing, but something that has a secure place for you to put your phone, that will connect to your radio for music and your cig lighter for charging.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:58, Reply)
You can get those for a couple of hundred, surely?
Get the mic and speakers wired in and all that.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 11:59, Reply)
This is the kind of deal
but this is for Android

I want one that doesn't replace your radio, but comes as a separate piece of kit that will work with either Android or iPhone.

The trouble with Brodit is that they're brand-specific.
I'm getting a new phone in October, there's no point spending £60 on something that'll only work with my current one.

I think I'm just going to have to have metres of cable flopping all over the dash of my lovely car :(
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 12:17, Reply)
I don't really know about them mate,
If you fancied a bit of a project, you could hook up a Nexus 7 / iPad Mini and get some funky software.
(, Fri 23 Aug 2013, 12:58, Reply)
I've never been very good at collages.
I'm not a 'big picture' kind of artist. Granddaughter No 2 is off to college this time round, studying art and design. I'm kind of jealous of her being able to do that.

I think if I was going to do an evening class, I'd either learn Polish (quite useful where I work) or car repair and maintenance (quite useful for not being ripped off at service & MOT time).

My hobby, apart from High End Gaming obvs, is my design blog stuff. Hosted by a very nice person who didn't even need bribing ;-)

Thinking of doing LLB, part time. (Law)
2 evenings a week, 3 hours a night, over 4 years. Not for work, just interest. Also A level maths, I've always picked stuff I liked and was good at/career orientated, so as I'm shit at maths it would be a challenge.

I am planning on learning to play the banjo.
In other news, following an excellent morning with micro I am having a couple of pints. This will be followed by watching Live & Let Die and a snooze on the sofa.
