Thursday Morning
Good morning everyone, and a thoroughly fluffy Thursday to you all from a significantly less windy and wet Hong Kong!

Good morning
Is anyone about then?

Morning 'lusty
How art thou today?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:51, Reply)
I'm here!
I have to get my train back home today so I'm up and about.
Well I say up and about, I am still in bed. :)
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:51, Reply)
Morning PoD
I'm fine, all alone in the office...For a change!
It means I get to finish some drawing though which is nice. (Just don't tell anyone)

And Morning Lucy! I'm very jealous you're still in bed.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:52, Reply)
Morning morning!
It is nice to still be in bed. Though it's not as fun now Mr VP has gone to work. :(
I've already had my morning cup of tea, I shall watch Big Brother then I need to pack. What an exciting day.
And whoop de whoop, it's only 1 day to go until the weekend!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:54, Reply)
Hurrah for cups of tea.
I've just put the kettle on.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:55, Reply)
I'm still in bed too
But I'm soon heading off to help a friend build a shed at his new house.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:56, Reply)
What is this?
Some kind of bed party?!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 7:58, Reply)
Tea is my life
The main food groups for me are sweets, crisps, olives, tea and gin. Everything else is just to make sure I don't get rickets or constipation.
(apologies for first thing in the morning poo reference)

Looks like a pretty balanced diet to me.
I love olives nom nom nom
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:02, Reply)
nom nom nom
I haven't had a decent olive for a while. Do you happen to know by any chance why people cook with black olives and eat the green one as a snack? Is it because black ones are stronger or what?
Man I want olives now.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:05, Reply)
I really don't know.
I tend to just get mixed black and green olives with feta cheese and sun dried tomatoes.
Double nom.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:08, Reply)
Morning all
I'm at work and have been for ages ... but at least could get out of the hotel today without being blown away by the typhoon.

Big(ish) news today is that the Peoples Liberation Army(!) of China have moved 100,000(!!) soldiers to Beijing in case something kicks-off during the Olympics.

Anyone else predicting a bloodbath there, or am I just being unnecessarily pessimistic?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:14, Reply)
I must away
Buy coffee, and head round to get this shed built.

Have fun mornings all.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:14, Reply)
@LvP
I'm a little out of touch - how did your second interview go, and did the recruiters come back to you on your first?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:15, Reply)
Bye PoD
Ed....100,000?!
Lordy.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:17, Reply)
edmund
Not out of touch at all, I'm flattered you remembered! I still haven't heard from the recruiters about the first interview, I know I should ring today but I'm scared in case she didn't let me know because it went so badly. surely thats why she hasn't contacted me?!
And the second interview was a group one and it went ok. I will know by the end of Monday whether I've got through. AAAAAAAAAAARG!
Bloomin' interview stress. I'll go grey before this is through.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:17, Reply)
Indeed.
As the Kaiser Chiefs famously sang, "I Predict A Riot".
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:18, Reply)
@LvP
Your interview is something positive for me to concentrate my energies on given that I've got a short-arse client here who can only best be politely described as a dickhead (sorry) whom I would otherwise be taking steps to kill.

Really, I'd call your recruiter. In my experience if it'd gone really badly they'd have called you already and given that they've got a few jobs on the go I'd harrass them until they get you an answer. Using a bit of motiviation (i.e., "I've got a few other things on the go and I'd rather not be waiting for this - if they're going to say yes then they should be getting their fingers out") will typically help your cause!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:20, Reply)
morning folks
hope you are all well

pretty tired today

should've brought a towel to have a shower at work but my brain wasn't engaged enough to grab one before I left the house :-/
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:27, Reply)
Morning Vipros!
Silly towel forgetting billy!
Edmund - I promise I will ring my recruitment lady today!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:31, Reply)
@Vipros
Paper towels?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:31, Reply)
silly indeed
now I'm slightly more awake it's becoming all to apparent that I don't function without having had a shower...

we don't have paper towels in the office :-(

plus it'd look a bit weird wandering into the shower clutching huge armfuls of them!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:32, Reply)
Gah
Some fucker's stolen my pritt stick.
It's quite annoying really.

God I lead a dull life.

Some people have no idea of what is sacred do they! I'm quite possessive of stationery (sp?). When I was doing my finals my housemates kept stealing my holepunch and I would get quite evil.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:34, Reply)
@All
Do we think that having 100,000 troops in Beijing is China asking for trouble?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:34, Reply)
morning
Morning folks *tips hat* How are we all today? Well I trust?
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:35, Reply)
@ed
I don't know if it's asking for trouble, but things I'm sure will be very tense for a while.

I can't work out if something kicking off will be a good thing or not.
EDIT: Let me try putting that another way...
I can't work out if riots are always bad.
I don't know enough about China to really say anything though.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:44, Reply)
@Lusty
I'm just a little concerned about another Tiannemen Square kicking off. They're a bunch of intransigent pricks in this neck of the woods when it comes to external criticism!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:49, Reply)
I was in China briefly last year
I tried to distance myself from discussing such matters. You're right though, criticism falls on deaf ears.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:58, Reply)
George W Bush
was complaining about human rights issues in China.
What about Afghanistan, where you funded most of the atrocities, you fucking twat?

Anyway, ning! Am still in state of undress but have a latte, so hopefully will begin to wake up...
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 8:59, Reply)
If I had a cock
I would wipe it across Bush's face then wank in his ear.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:02, Reply)
@Lusty/Clendrix
Absolutely agreed, both of you, on the Bushies commentary on human rights. Hello pot, this is kettle etc! We've got a real problem when one of the worst war criminals of recent years - far, far worse than Radovan Karadzic (who is undoubtedly bad) - can be so hypocritical and yet go unpunished.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:04, Reply)
Edmund
Exactly! The western world is so quick to look at other countries and judge them, but they never question things like: how do they get all their guns?; who's training their generals?; where do they get their funding?

From us, of course!

It's also no good us waxing lyrical about Chinese factories expanding and chucking out planet-ruining shit when they're making stuff for us that we'll buy cos it's cheaper.

Edit: Lusty, that makes me want to say that I wish you had a cock, but that might sound wrong...
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:15, Reply)
And now someone's taken my pen
It's quite clearly mine. It's purple with glitter all over it and has my name on it.
Thieving bastards in here.

Edit: Has the thought of my cock scared everyone off? Oh dear :(
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:16, Reply)
Certainly not!
Am still here!

Does seem a bit quiet though.
I may* have to get dressed and go to work.

*Not really any 'may' about it.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:40, Reply)
certainly not
I don't think cock could scare many b3tans off.
I making another cup of tea. Go hunt down the pen thief and kick some ass!
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:41, Reply)
I'd love to be able
to go to work in my pyjamas.

Edit: Lucy, I know who the pen thief is, I'll slap his bald head later and make him give me my pen back.

This is all getting very serious for this time of the day.

Back to olives I feel. Did you know that most black olives are just green olives coloured?
Really, if you're buying black olives and see one of the ingredients is Ferrous Gluconate then they have been coloured.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:43, Reply)
Pyjama-based work wear FTW!
Oh to live in pyjamas. They rock.

Edit: Madame Bin - how interesting! I prefer green olives to black.

Edmund...

(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:45, Reply)
Oh, and olives
you can get both of them for eating raw - black and green, although I've only ever seen green ones stuffed.
(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:45, Reply)
Henry =

(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:45, Reply)
That's true
I don't think I've ever seen the black ones stuffed.
We have an excellent market stall here which sells all sundried tomatoes and stuff like that. I'll look tomorrow and see if they do black ones stuffed.

(, Thu 7 Aug 2008, 9:56, Reply)
@LvP
Me too. It's very obvious from Henry's look into the camera that there's nothing going on behind those eyes. He is VERY cute though and whilst he used to get very excited when I came home from work every night he's now much more laid back. Except when I come to pick him up from his foster-parents whilst I'm away when he goes absolutely "didyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissmedidyamissme?" crazy :)

My dog is a bit like that - when i'm away for weeks at a stretch he can't be arsed to get up and speak to me but if you take the rubbish out to the bin and he hears the door he gets excited. silly little thing. I dressed him up as a pirate once. i'll see if I can find pictures.

I had been following the votes and really didn't want to win with my crap joke.

Which I didn't even make up anyway. I got it in an email.

Besides, I'm not really a proper B3tan anyway. I'm an alter-ego for someone else on tihs site and I'm dusted off for special occasions.

I would've felt far happier if one of my real posts had received that many votes.
