Alright SBT.
Last night was 'admit any old shit Monday'.

We had in -
Diabetic teenage shitcunt on their third DKA in six months who needn't have come in had the A and E shitcunts git their arses into gear.
Brittle asthmatic who we needn't have admitted had the A and E shitcunts, etc
A perfectly fine 80 year old for 'post-op monitoring'. That's recovery's job, tell the last cunts that they're paid to be on call for a reason.
And a 'ventilator detox'.

I was tempted to refer him to one of the milfs at daughter's playgroup, she's a feng shui consultant.
80 quid an hour initial consult. I'm in the wrong fucking job.

my doctor wants me on drugs
last two things I was on (some anti-GORD thing and diazepam for locked-up back muscle), he was all like 'oh, keep taking them as long as you need to, here's a repeat prescription, come back when you need another'
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:15, Reply)
I have prescription diazepam for back problems
I sometimes take it for fun, it's quite nice.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:16, Reply)
I have diazepam to use if I feel I am going to have a seizure. I carry some with me all the time, just in case.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:18, Reply)

I've not taken hallucinogenics for ages. Absolutely years.
I'd like to try ayushca.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:25, Reply)
I've never had a trip - always been too scared.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:26, Reply)
Tried most things when younger.Lsd, psilocybin, amanitia. The trips good, usually' but the days after are grim man.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:29, Reply)
a couple of my friends have a peyote cactus and attend ayahuasca ceremonies
They won't let me join in as I want to do it for hedonistic rather than spiritual reasons.

you get auras right?

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:22, Reply)
Yes. They differ considerably for different people. For me, I get pins & needles down the right side of my face and a sudden aversion to feeling hot.
Excess fatigue is the biggest trigger for me.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:25, Reply)
You haven't fitted for a long time I think you said?

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:27, Reply)
I was admitted to the Royal Free last summer when I collapsed - turns out that wasn't a fit but some type of food poisoning, but the nature of the collapse made people initially think it was a fit.
I haven't had a full on Grand Mal tonic clonic for several years. Thankfully.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:32, Reply)
Glad to hear.

a bloke at work is an epi and doesn't get any warning, that must be a lot worse

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:28, Reply)
That's certainly more dangerous, I'm allowed to drive as things are under control & I get auras, I wouldn't want to be a passenger with your colleague.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:33, Reply)
he has to surrender his licence after having a seizure

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:34, Reply)
Yes. I did when I was first diagnosed - need to be 12 months seizure free before you can apply to get it back.
Even then it's only a three year license that then has to be reviewed. Which makes sense.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:50, Reply)
indeed
It's not a very pleasant condition.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:52, Reply)
Could be worse; it isn't AIDS or cancer.
Speaking of which; how are you getting on with having both of those?
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:53, Reply)
my aids cancer has caused a tumour in my antibiotic system.

I get those symptoms when I've got a migraine brewing.
Fatigue is the cause for me usually I think.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:56, Reply)
Thankfully seizures, as I understand it, are a lot shorter than migraines.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:57, Reply)
I go over my limit most days,
But never lie to my doc, Christ, that's just a stupid thing to do.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:17, Reply)
Is it any worse to tell a fib to a GP when most of them aren't proper Doctors but they tell you they are?

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:18, Reply)
I've never met a GP with a PhD.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:20, Reply)
I know a nurse consultant with a PhD in cardiology.
I'm not quite sure how that sort of job works.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:22, Reply)
Afriend of mine is a nurse, he's doing a masters in something to do with th liver.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:33, Reply)
yeah, so a specialist rather than a GP

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:38, Reply)
If that's how you want to see it, yes.
General Practice is just that...one needs a good general grounding of everything. I certainly wouldn't play down my experience or qualifications.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:42, Reply)
it's a wide but shallow pool of knowledge

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:45, Reply)
can't you see how neccesary that is?
if everyone was a specialist, who would look at my flaky balls and deicde whether it needed a bit of cream or a specialist treatment? or look at that guys feet and decide if it's a posture thing or a serious spinal problem or whatever.
GP's are an important part of the process. Someof them are probably shit at their job, but luckily, you don't have to keep going back to the same GP.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:47, Reply)
of course I realise that
My own experience (for what it's worth; anecdotal evidence is worth very little) is that whenit comes to serious conditions they get it consistently wrong to the extent that the the problem is exacerbated.

It's like giving an OPS transfer to a mortgage case checker.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:51, Reply)
well, in my experience, i've reached relevant specialists in a reasonable time frame,
so basically, you hate GP's because you have a shit GP.
(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:54, Reply)
I don't hate GPs

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:56, Reply)
Ok.

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:56, Reply)
Get a different gp then.
Or fuck off to somewhere where you don't get free care, cradle to birth. The nhs ain't perfect, but it does a fucking good job and I'm proud to be a part of it.

actually, soap and water was the problem,

(, Tue 18 Feb 2014, 19:58, Reply)
Perfumed and scented soaps can be quite bad on skin in general, more so for 'delicate' parts ofthe anatomy. Like your lnackers.
