...bored.
Went to the pub, and I was the second person in there.
And that includes my girlfriend who works behind the bar.
Bah.

Edit: for the "Kaol re-building project" I'll throw in some random unidentified cables which have resided in the tool box for quite some time, a 12 volt charger and some gaffer tape.

Yes. In a word. Yes.
August is a bit of a 'mare for those of us who call this old town home. If you can get here another time, actually May is good.
Statistically, August is our wettest month of the year, and May is usually the driest! I can't remember how I know that, but that amount of the wet stuff that's fallen this month convinces me it's true!
Plus, all the hotels and B&Bs fill up pretty quick in August and charge full rate. Better chance of a last minute bargain in off season. If you don't mind the cold, December's usually excellent as there's a lot on in town (funfair on Princes Street, ice rink in the shadow of the Castle etc).
Anything you need to know, give me a shout - always happy to boast about my town!
Edit: just re-read your request - first two weeks in July are the local "trades" fortnight and the start of our school holidays. This means that local attractions can be a bit busy, but nowhere near as bad as August. I don't do the Festival I'm afraid.

it's not directly under the castle as such, it's in East Princes Street Gardens. Which is down-and-to-the-right-a-bit. But still described as "in the shadow". They also have reindeer there. Did you know that reindeer poo smells worse than horse poo?

No, not a premonition of upset, but a song suggestion. I am exceedingly crap at guitaring, but I made up a version of this I could sing to - much slower and simpler.
Basically, I take songs I like, old stuff, chart stuff, whatever, download the chords and make up my own, slower versions.

I am so not cut out for training.
I'm training our new temps at the moment, and one of them is brilliant - picks up what she needs to do in about five minutes and never needs to ask me anything unless she can't find what she needs. The other is the opposite, and sometimes I don't have a reason beyond "that's just the way we do things here". I'm amazed I have this much responsibility and I don't know how much longer it'll be before I twat her one. Especially as they're earning £3 an hour more than me for less work! Can I borrow a Robokaol?

Did you have honey?
Fact 1. Rupert Brooke who wrote this also wrote 'The Soldier'. (you know the one 'There is a corner of a foreign field that is forever England'.)
Fact 2. The Old Vicarage, Grantchester is now lived in by Jeffrey Fucking Archer.
