Skiing, worth doing or not? My brother loves skiing, his wife loves skiing. I hate my brother and his wife, so I generally avoid anything they like.
Any of your prejudices mean you miss out?
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:07, 95 replies, latest was 10 years ago)
Skiing?
Not something I'd fancy. Almost all of the people I know who ski have had either a broken bone (or several) or buggered cartilages/ligaments in their knees - sometimes both. There's the added joy of all the hoorays you may encounter.
For those reasons, ahhm oot!
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:16, Reply)
I know a guy who has now had three knee surgeries because of skiing. Where is he at the moment, skiing.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:25, Reply)
See ... if you did that with recreational drugs they'd label you a feckless addict.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:27, Reply)
can i ski on drugs?

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:39, Reply)
Yes.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:40, Reply)
I assume heroic addicts are ahead of the game.

Probably better on skis though.
Just sayin'.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:53, Reply)
one of my minions went skiing last week and came back with his entire upper body purple and both arms in slings
He's a chocolate teapot for the next six weeks. Skiing is clearly for morons.

I've never enjoyed a decent NF rally on account of hating racism.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:18, Reply)
I have enjoyed three NF rallies, due to going as a member AFA.

Dunno, them military trained Jew boys get quite furious.

I'm starting a shit punk band called the Furious Jews

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 10:02, Reply)
Do you know what gets me really racist? Flying. I've never been so racist as being on a flight.
From all the jehadists getting off at Istanbul to hop into Iran, to the peasent locals taking huge luggage bags and bringing their own big bag of nuts on the flight, to the English who start clapping when you land.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:42, Reply)
don't forget the Jews in bin bags

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 9:47, Reply)
Yup, they're on the list. God forbid they touch a women.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:43, Reply)
not mine dude. sadly.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:55, Reply)
rebates mean you've given the gubmint an interest-free loan
never really understood people celebrating them
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:46, Reply)
it's always on their terms as a PAYE drone.
what's not to celebrate?
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:54, Reply)
Pay As You Earn Cartel is almost like a garage cru or something.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:01, Reply)
that means they've nicked too much of your money every month and are grudgingly giving it you back
and hoping it feels like a free gift so you won't be too hacked off at them taking it in the first place
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:01, Reply)
yes it is.
what's your point, Shambo?
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:03, Reply)
other than the point you made

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:03, Reply)
It's not so much a bonus, more of an 'accidental savings scheme'.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:00, Reply)
an interest-free savings scheme forced on you by the state

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:02, Reply)
or free money you should have had earlier

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:04, Reply)
it's not free money
it's money you earned and they took directly from your pay packet

Glass half full / Glass Half Empty

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 16:39, Reply)
what? no

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 17:22, Reply)
It's akin to finding a tenner in an old pair of trousers; it's your money and always has been, but it still feels like a bonus somehow.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:07, Reply)
it's more like a massively wealthy mate giving you a tenner and saying "here's that tenner I took off you last year without asking"

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:08, Reply)
And my attitude would still be 'oh I didn't notice at the time, cheers!'.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:09, Reply)
Most Skiier's/Snowboarders seem to be a bit tiresome and eager to tell you about their cretinous fascination with the sport whether you pretend to be interested or not.
For that reason, I'm out.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:40, Reply)
horrid bullying of naked ape

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:42, Reply)
yeah, it's a hobby thing.
I am like that with scuba diving
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:42, Reply)
I have/have had hobbies in the past and I tend to try to keep hobby chat to a minimum amongst people who couldn't care less.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:54, Reply)
that is why you are TBOH

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:55, Reply)
It's pretty fun. Bit posh though innit.
If you want to give it a go head to Milton Keynes world famous indoor ski dome, then pop downstairs for a pint and KFC or a Subway for the ladies.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 13:51, Reply)
I think this might be the most depressing suggestion I've ever read on the internet

I went to the tamworth snowdome when I was a kid, I swept a middle-aged woman off her feet and lost my hat on the escalator thing.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:02, Reply)
are you still together?

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:06, Reply)
can you change this to 'that's the only time you swept a woman off her feet isn't it?' please?
I've got a witty comeback.

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:15, Reply)
I still wear his mother's pum as a crown.
But only for special occasions, like tuesdays.

I'm taking the Doris indoor sky diving in MK at some point.

When I lived near there those fans annoyed the shit out of me.
If you like Chinese food go to the Taipan nearby afterwards.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:13, Reply)
Can't imagine we'll spend any longer thsn absolutely necessary there.
The hotels you recommended didn't inspire.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:17, Reply)
your first mistake was asking for recommendations from a man with no taste

(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:24, Reply)
I think he was limited by available places to suggest
Not because he has questionable taste.
(, Sat 31 Jan 2015, 14:35, Reply)
It's mainly buisness hotels they are what they are.

just a shame it involves going to Milton Keynes

Find out if it's a laugh or not when we find a weekend we can make!
I know a bloke who has been before, he said it was a laugh, so hopefully it'll be fun.

I'm back to val thorens in a few weeks. Fantastic skiing and guaranteed not meeting any depressive weirdos who change printer cartridges and turn stuff off and back on

Yes, no IT drones do predictable middle-class activities like skiing.
