I'm on a four-week pay cycle, like some kind of povvo, so my payday isn't until next Friday.
It *is* bonus day today, however. I might buy something later.
What can you get for a budget of £10.50?
Alt: My life is a series of bad ideas, cobbled together by woe and regret.
In other news, how are we all today?

Apparently, it's a 'thank you' for all our hard work over the last year.
Basically, it's a bone they throw us once a year in lieu of paying actual decent wages.

I can't remember the last time I used a credit card
which is a bit silly, seeing as we've got one of those ones that pays cash back for doing your shopping.

I put everything through a credit card
more protection, improves credit rating and you get vouchers and stuff.

I dread to think what my credit rating might be these days
seeing as I have no mortgage, no loans, and don't use credit cards.

Any money is worth having, I suppose, no matter how fewer.
It's only in the low three figures, though. I'm not going to go out and buy diamonds, put it that way.

It's the money she made from elderley people who are entitled to free scripts
but insist on paying something towards them anyway.

As if ANYONE entitled to free scripts
has ever wanted to pay ANYTHING for ANYTHING.
pay 50p for a pack of ibuprofen? No thanks, I'll get my doctor to prescribe some and I'll get them free.

Except the whole process (doctors appointment etc) probably cost the taxpayer about £50

Pharmacies get paid about nine quid for filling a prescription,
minus the patient contribution.
That means every free pack of paracetamol we give out costs the taxpayer huge amounts of money. It would be cheaper to just give them a box off the shop floor.

4 week payments used to drive me mental when i was a letting agent
12 calendar months in the year. so why, why, why do housing benefits pay in lots of 4 weeks? it means the tenant shows as being permanently in arrears and nothing balances and when you have a massive rent roll of 4000 tenants with about 800 on benefits it takes forever why councils why whyyyyyyyyy?

Thirteen four-week blocks in a year
means that one month has two paydays in it. It's really quite weird.
