So, good evening!
Tonight I'll be mostly eating home-made fajitas and possibly watching Die Hard 4.

Anyone doing anything interesting tonight?

Hmm... is it evening? I can't remember if I was taught it started at 5pm or 6pm... probably the latter. Plus, I finish work at 3pm so once Countdown has finished it feels like evening to me :)

Ah well... good late-afternoon everybody :)

I'm engaged in an epic ongoing battle with sciatica.

It has been murder for the last couple of months and theres no physio in the area to help me :(

Tonight will involve Pro Evo, illegally downloaded music and lots of tea....

I've had to call in Chickengranny (my mother) to feed the nuggets - and take them to school.

With any luck I'll be out of bed in a day or so.

Mind you, I might get to like it!

The fanning is a great idea - spent the morning feeling freezing cold and wrapped up in many duvets and now this afternoon I've been sweating the infection out so a fan will cool my fevered brow.

What about an osteopath? Sciatica truly is a pain in the arse. Osteopathy + drugs + red wine (anti-inflammatory y'see) keep me out of the rubber room when MINE FLARES UP.

My social skills are shit. Sorry, "Hello people!"

Well Tourettes, the doctor said there would be no point going on the NHS waiting list as it would be over 3 months before I'm "seen to".

He highly recommended I got involved with Codeine - but alas I said nay! No drugs for me.

A few weeks down the line and I have succumbed to the lure of Codeine and am thinking about going private as this whole shenanigans is hindering my amateur football career!

Oh yes and I'm a light weight when it comes to booze so red wine is a nono...

yep, Ancrenne speaks the truth - I gave it my nasty germs and so did DiT.

Quite frankly the internet can keep my germs. I have made great use of the doctoring websites - last night I felt a bit better for an hour or so - I checked the net to see what the fuller diagnosis was (my GP says I've got a kidney infection) according to the web I'll need new kidneys probably by next week unless I'm dead by then.

I spent this morning shivering in bed and trying to decide which child I should harvest organs from.

I actually decided it would be better to have my dad's kidneys - he's old and infirm.

I'm a bad person.

Al, I did think I had bone cancer/a nasty parasite/a rare sexually transmitted disease before the dr said it was my kidneys.

I had sorted out what I was going to take with me into hospital.

I'd everything planned - and now I seem to be getting better....typical!

Aside from whoring my latest dribble

www.b3ta.com/questions/foodsabotage/post251548

which is about as techy as I get, someone phoned me up today and told me about a vacancy, local, ££££££££££ish, and A1 tip top and groovy, so I am moderately less pissed off than this morning (I signed on for the first time in a decade and nearly cried).

Anyhoo, a word of advice. If making a strawberry, blackberry and peach tart, don't listen to 'Blackened' at the same time or else you will add too much cinnamon. This is true. And you also knock your mega-hand whisk thingy into the sink. This is not good.

And as an aside, my 4 year old decided to make himself a snack while I was posting dribble earlier: CocoPops, Banana and Celery. He ate the lot. Thank Bob I won't be supervising his toiletary activities tomorrow.

Yummy.

Y'know, the B3ta cookbook is looking more and more like a goer - I mean where else on t'internet would you find a bunch of wierd-assed sexually deviant appreciators of the finer things in life?

Such as food, drink, humour, edged weapons, cars, ridiculously large assault weapons and kitten stir-fry?

I'm going to bung some prawns in with fragrant spices, slap on a plate and throw in the general direction of the Boss. I'll stick to crisps, Whisky and early 90's Thrash.

@ Chickenlady
I had a kidney infection last year. It was the worst pain I've ever experienced, even badder than the root canal work when I wasn't properly anaesthetized.

It started as cystitis and I just put it down to the sex, and then I began to wee blood.
The ex said "oh don't worry, that used to happen to the ex Mrs all the time". So I didn't worry. And after a few days I was praying for death it hurt so much. Ex, to give him his credit, when I struggled out of bed to go to work pushed me gently but firmly back down, phoned work to tell my boss I wouldn't be coming in and got me some antibiotics. Normally I think they are the work of the devil but I readily sold my soul. I can't take codeine as it gives me crippling headaches, but in this case I was happy to take the headache over the kidney ache. The worst of the pain lasted about a week. I couldn't lie down, sit down, stand up, eat, drink, bear to be touched, speak, think... felt sick, boiling hot, icy cold, and began hallucinating. It took a few weeks and two courses of antibiotics to clear completely.

The moral is take drugs! Sooner rather than later!

EDIT: I just read further up... you ARE taking drugs... sorry... ok how do you do small, I thought it was s but apparently that makes it look like I'm retracting my apology.

I lucked out
on the musical genes. My two bros are freakishly musical and I have given up all attempts to join them, preferring instead to bask in the reflected glory.

I do have a really rather lully acoustic Fender though and occasionally I pretend to play it.

A few years back when I was going through one of the most monumentally stressful times of my life I learned how to play Bourree by Bach from tab. I loved it and was full of teh sense of achievement. When the stress subsided I didn't pick up my plank for a while, and by the time I did I had forgotten how to play it. I tried to learn again, but just can't get to grips with it.

I guess I just have to be really really stressed to be able to make music.

I was lucky enough to be at a small and intimate gig. Support act was me - monging around on my guitar and whining about how I can't play. Main act was Kaol - fine job of playing and great job of singing.

There was an encore (not by me). It was great.

Kaol: it is written and so it was. That's how it works around here :)

Might watch Dexter. I see the odd episode now and then on C4 and quite like it.

On the otherhand I could spend my time doing any number of the hundreds of things on my mental to do list...

For instance. Buying a small, flat telly to mount on the wall in front of my desk so I can watch telly while doing more productive things on my PC then buy myself a laptop, scrap the PC but keep the monitor so I can run dual screen when at home (the dual screen with a laptop thing might not be possible, need to check that out, also on my to do list)
