Good Morning
For some reason my body is not allowing me to sleep any longer this morning, so I thought I'd starts off the HSH thread!

How are we all?

(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:37, 70 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Morning!
I had a similar problem, I just couldn't sleep.
How are you today? Don't you have bash fun today?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:39, Reply)
Morning!
I'm ok thanks, just had an extremely lovely shower!

Indeed I do have a bash to attend tonight, in Royal Leamington Spa!

How are you this morning?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:42, Reply)
Morning you two
I have many things to put off doing today, and hence am up early also.

Oh, how jealous I am of all you bash goers. Apart from the obvious financial problems it would bring for me.

How are you LVP?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:44, Reply)
I'm ok
I'm still in bed, Mr VP was up and off out at stupid o clock this morning.
But I can't be angry with him as he bought me an old school pack of Monster Munch (Roast Beef flavour!) and a bag of fruit pastilles to eat.
nom.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:44, Reply)
aww
Mr VP sounds like a true gent!

Good morning PoD!
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:45, Reply)
Morning PoD!
He can be a true gent but he has his awkward moments.
But I can't be angry when I have monster munch waiting for me.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:46, Reply)
He sounds
A lot like me! I can be a gent, with random lapses into thoughtlessness (but never malicious).
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:48, Reply)
Morning Labia
I do love a good pack of Monster Munch, but not quite as much as a pack of Wotsits. There's just something about the orange that attracts me.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:50, Reply)
I don't like Wotsits...
I prefer salt and vinegar Squares, or S&V Kettle Chips *drools*
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:51, Reply)
Mmmmm squares...
Though my main crisp based weakness is salt and vinegar chipsticks.
I will kill and maim for a bag of chipsticks.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:52, Reply)
*makes sure not to stand between LVP and chipsticks*
I'm a sucker for S&V of any kind of crisp really.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 9:54, Reply)
S+V FTW
Nom nom nom.

Oh, all this talk of crisps is making me hungry. But if I eat the monster munch now then I've peaked too soon!
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:01, Reply)
Foooood
Well, I'm going to nip to Tesco, need to buy supplies for tonight!

See y'all later :)
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:02, Reply)
I think I have run out of cereal :(
But hopefully I have bread so can toast it to the max. Oh yeah!

Many plans for the day LVP? Other than eating monster munch?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:10, Reply)
Well...
I might be going out for a lunchtime pint with ms Wanderlust today, that'd be ace.
Then Mr VP and I plan to drink several bottles of wine this afternoon/evening and generally lounge around being lazy!

What about yourself?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:11, Reply)
Well...
I need to go into town and buy my flatmate a birthday present, then I'm going to visit a friend who is working at the fresher's fair in the city centre. Also want to buy another couple of things.

Then need to come back here, read some pdf's for uni, do some other work for uni, make a list of assignments, and work on my project brief.

Then dinner, and recording some music this evening.

So quite the day all in all now I've written it out like that.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:14, Reply)
Busy busy busy
You have put my day to shame with all of your noble activities.

I look like a crisp eating, wine drinking bum.

:S
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:15, Reply)
I look like an overly busy student
And it's only just the end of week 1.

And why have both my flatmates had birthdays within 2 weeks of each other? It's just plain inconsiderate, I tells ya, presents stealing all my moneys.

And looking at my bank account online, all the things I've bought this week have suddenly come off. Crap.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:18, Reply)
:(
Stupid banks. I hate it when the money actually goes. It's a sad time.

As for all the birthdays at once, my mums and sisters birthdays are in the same week as Christmas. That is one expensive week.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 10:21, Reply)
That sounds like an expensive week
I know about 15 people who have birthdays in September.

Most do not get presents.

On the plus side, more student loan money comes through on Tuesday.

Good morning all!
What's everyone's take on God? Does he exist or is it all twaddle?

I ask this because, I've been watching videos on Youtube on debates between atheists and believers and it makes for interesting watching.

P.S I have a stinking cold, so have your lemsips at the ready!

Weekend Lard-Fest
Just been shopping for the clan and got a bit overexcited.

Spare ribs tonight in a sort of sticky chinese glaze thing, crispy seaweed, broccoli & mushrooms in oyster sauce, crispy Thai noodles and maybe Oriental Potato Lumps (TM).

Tomorrow it's slow-roasted chicken bits smothered in garlic, rosemary and some odds and sods.

Sometimes there are advantages to being a sad unemployed git with no social life.

Morning all.
Just risen from my pit, having got home from the club at 7am.

I managed to get myself 'happy-slapped' last night - I was walking back from the club to my car, when a car pulled up alongside me with a couple of Asian guys in. They wound the window down and asked if I knew the way to Hurst Street (which I did). As I was walking past a club and it was still quite noisy, I leant down to his window to talk to them and the guy punched me squarely on the nose. It was only then that I noticed that the other guy was filming the whole thing on his phone.

Pity for him, he couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. I was more bemused than anything else.

Before I could do or say anything though, they tore off around the corner...

That sucks Duck
Er I mean, "that sucks, Duck"... punctuation is everything.

Noons all... not that there's much of an all to noon to... spect it'll be quiet in here today.

It's horrid weather here... wild, wet and windy. Sounds like a pron. I have to go out to buy the papers but then I think I will go back to bed and feel cosy for the rest of the day. Well why not.

Ooh and crisps! Give me crisps over chocolate anyday - Walker salt and vinegar FTW! But only Walkers, other salt and vinegar just isn't the same. Also salt and shake without the salt. And Kettle Chips. I used to like those bubbly ones, haven't seen them for a while... what where they called... Roysters? Don't suppose they're vegan though.

Other worthy snackage: sesame worms, crunchy chilli coated peanuts, Bombay mix, poppadoms, Twiglets, pistachios, and the roasted nut mix from the co-op.

*wanders off into crunchy daydreams*
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 12:57, Reply)
Fuzzers M'Dear
That sucks duck is now firmly embedded in the language, and I have a very very odd mental picture. Shame on you.

Walkers Ready Salted/Cheese & Onion for me. I'll leave you the S&V.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 13:59, Reply)
Soz! tee hee :)
I like Walkers cheese and onion too but since I became vegan I won't eat them any more :( Enjoy them on my behalf.

And vegan cheese is pants.

Ah well. I shall console myself with the rather scrumptious veg stew I made and some lully fresh rye bread.

After I have been out and braved the elephants, that is...

Evening
I don't suppose any else is actually about this evening?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 19:51, Reply)
Memememememem!
I'm here, I'm queer and I'm buying you a beer.

Well I'm here anyway.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 19:52, Reply)
Beer would be good
Or a nice cider.

Or just someone else being here. My flatmates have wandered off and I'm feeling all lonely.

How are you miss BGB?

Good evening, all.

Won't say
Well the truth is I've not got much to say today.

*edit* Oh fire

I've just cracked open a bottle of red.
Which means my plan at getting up at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning and going to the gym has just been shelved.

@Mrs Bin...nothing to say? Just regale us with you current teaching anecdotes.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:00, Reply)
Evening BGB
I bought a new biscuit cook book today.

Teaching anecdotes. Hmmm
I'm teaching Nursery on Wednesday. Don't know how I feel about that.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:07, Reply)
@Mrs Bin.
A new biscuit cook book. You'll soon be the UK's leading expert on biscuits at this rate.

Nursery? Aw! the ickle wickly girls and boys. At least you wont have to worry about getting stabbed by a pupil.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:16, Reply)
Mrs Liveinabin
Do you only know recipes for cakes and biscuits or do you do desserts in general?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:17, Reply)
I do indeed do desserts
but mainly old fashioned ones like, Queen of Puddings and Apple Amber. mmmmmmmm

I'm only in Nursery for 45 minutes. I just can't cope with children who can't wipe their own arses.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:21, Reply)
Rhubarb crumble and custard...
quite possibly the greatest dessert ever made!

People slate UK cuisine, but the British make the best desserts in the world. No-one can touch them.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:23, Reply)
The thing is Stig
is that British food and drink was made for British weather.
A warm beer, shepherds pie followed by Spotted Dick; just what you need on a night like this.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:26, Reply)
Mrs Liveinabin
True, but you could argue that for any culture's cuisine. Curries only came about because the spices were used to cover the taste of the meat because meat used to rot too quickly in the heat.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:29, Reply)
@Mrs Bin.
there's a great deal of older kids who can't wipe their own arses nowadays, metaphorically speaking.

Crumble and custard *sighs*
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:30, Reply)
Well this is true Ms Blouse
It's worrying the number of children who can't eat with a knife and fork.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:31, Reply)
My nephew is 7 and still likes eating with his fingers.
I'd get him to use a knife and fork if I have to cut off his fingers and stick them in the knuckle sockets.

His mum just gives up and lets him get on with it.

*Auntie Blouse will sort him out*
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:36, Reply)
Give him what for
BGB. He's 7, how much longer can he go on eating with his fingers for? His mum is going to have to do something about it.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:40, Reply)
@Mrs Bin
He does mostly use a knife and fork but would prefer to use his fingers. He's a good kid but needs a kick up the arse now and then.

He's started learning karate recently and he loves it. I took him to the gym last time and we were early. He went off on his own and started practising all by himself.

Made me grin.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:49, Reply)
Right guys
I'm off to actually spend some time with Mr Bin.

Laters
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:51, Reply)
See ya!
I think I'll watch some shit tv and eat twiglets.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:53, Reply)
Bye Mrs Bin
I'm just out of the shower. It was lovely and warm. Now I'm rather cold.

On the plus side, I have cookies to eat. Go me!

Anyone up to anything interesting?

Nowt. Yourself? What are you studying at uni?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 20:57, Reply)
I am a mighty
Product Design Engineer, just started 4th year of a five year course.

And when I say mighty, I mean stressed with lots of work even though I've only been back a week. Crap.

I'm watching Band of Brothers on dvd since my flatmates have both wandered off out.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 21:01, Reply)
5 year course?
That's a bit long. Used to be 3 years in my day. 4 with a placement year.

Which uni?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 21:02, Reply)
You Engerlish with 3 year courses
Up here in Scotland we have 4 year courses as standard for most things, but I'm doing a Masters so it's 5 years.

And I'm at Strathclyde University.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 21:04, Reply)
Ahhhh a master's! Gotcha!
Oh well, I'll leave you alone with "Band of Bros".

Be careful, with engineering design. Manufacturing is dying in the UK. so there may not be much demand,
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 21:07, Reply)
According to a careers talk yesterday
There is actually still quite a high demand for the likes of people from our course, which is quite nice. Probably helps that we do a lot of management and the likes too.

And manufacturing is really boring. That's what the previous 3 years have taught me.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 21:09, Reply)
PoD
According to a careers talk I had a couple of days ago, there's a big demand for shop workers!

So don't listen to them too hard! :O)

Good night.

Well, I've had a good day
I've just got an interview for a dept which will see me working 9-5, no major hassles & shed loads of time in the gym.

So, a new throw for the bed (purchased by the good lady), a few bitters later and I'm off to bed. Bide thee well fellow b3tans and I'll catch up with y'all an on.

Touche. Or as I prefer, touchy..

Don't believe we have met before. Tell me a random fact about yourself.

Strathclyde
I liked Strathclyde's Union bar. My big sister went there. She let me join her and her mates in there when I was but 16. I was wearing a St Johnstone FC shirt and drinking a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale and one of her pals told me I looked liked a football hooligan.

*sniff* never been so proud.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 22:24, Reply)
@POD
nope, been finished uni for 3 years.

Not entirely random fact: I've played amatuer football against Strathclyde Uni 3rd
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 22:35, Reply)
Ah right flesh
That's not so much random as topical.

Are you still in the fair city? What did you study?
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 22:44, Reply)
Nope
now in Barcelona.

Started with Computer Science, then changed to Sports Science.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 22:59, Reply)
Haha!
I would just like to share a concept I hope will catch on. On Live at the Apollo Jimmy Carr just said that having a minute's silence to remember monumental fuckups and tragedies is a bit crap, and suggested an alternative way for the nation to show their feelings - ten seconds of tutting, possibly punctuated with irritated sighs. He got the audience to do it, and it truly conveyed the sentiments much better.
(, Sat 4 Oct 2008, 23:00, Reply)
Sounds interesting Fuzzy
Barcelona? Oo, get you.

We got told the other day that our course is likely to take us overseas in the future, which should prove interesting with my lack of foreign language speaking.

at least you would be doing something with it
