about Mike and his Mechanical posse. once I was living in Mexico, middle of nowhere, desperate for any English language entertainment I could get my hands on. (don't speak Spanish. please don't ask what I was doing south of the border.)
getting to the point, one evening after I watched the Simpsons (dubbed Spanish) was lucky enough to catch a Mike/Mechanics concert on my shitty television. embarrassingly enough, my foot was tapping.
*the shame*

My parents have always had a thing for Zappa but have spent the past five years collecting everything he's ever made, which is a lot.
They'd be all like 'Yeah, Zappa, he's great. You should really listen to him, you'd love it!' all the time until finally, after a few months of brushing them off, I got a copy of some album or other.
And I was like 'What the fuck's this shit?!' I've never been so disappointed in music my whole life.
I think their overenthusiasm spoiled it for me.
( , Wed 4 Feb 2009, 16:19, Reply)

That's a shame.
Some of his stuff is reall wierd, but mostly it's great.
( , Wed 4 Feb 2009, 16:21, Reply)

Although, as a Zappa fan, you have to choose the right albums to ease people in...
They haven't even released half of what he recorded, it's mental. Think I've got over 30 albums between LPs, CDs and mp3s and that's not even all the released stuff.

they were insanely loud.
They've never been as good after Richie Blackmore left though. The guitarists they replaced him with were too modern and fret-wanky
whereas Blackmore had his own unique style. Shame he went weird.

what would be the point. loud is good, but isn't enough. I'm still near the point of tears that I missed My Bloody Valentine a few months ago. Know that they were playing a shit venue, however. this soothes the pain.
yeah, right.

I saw Metallica play in 83 or was is 84? did a lot of drugs back then. it was a random coincidence that I was present, to see Cliff Fucking Burton thunder away. at one time, I had all the luck!

the pic of Frank at home with his folks that was linked in a recent newsletter? Twas bizarre.
Also, Cap'n Beefheart FTW. I love Zappa too but for all round greatness and listenability of music Beefheart has it. And he kissed me by proxy once while I was wearing my Mum.
Also, City Of Tiny Lights. It's terrible quality but it's the only one I could find. Best. Animation. Ever. Even better than b3ta.
Also... just for shiggles, here's a pic I did for a calender I gave my family for Christmas. That's me and my brothers.

and I don't think I've used a single melee weapon in the game yet. Apart from the ripper a few times.

that I am irrelevent with my Zappa postingness but just because everyone else had moved on to talk about something else doesn't mean I can't insist on talking about it.
OK?
EDIT: Well now I look even sillier, for being defiant and stuff when someone had actually answered me.
It's true Vipros, my mum was Beefheart's biggest groupie, and he kissed her on a balcony under a moonlit sky one night. While she was pregnant with me. This is my proudest claim to fame.
