Someone tell me again why you *special* kiddies had a fit when the nice teacher tried to give you indented replies?
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:23, 56 replies, latest was 16 years ago)

it's a fair old hike back over this side isn't it?

And having no feel towards where the conversation is weighted?
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:30, Reply)

but not specifically in the daily threads, so it'd be handy to be able to choose.

If you don't like it here then don't come but if you are prepared to join in without moaning then hello and give us a hug.

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? Struck me as a reasonable question.
How do you do nested replies here, though?
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:39, Reply)

replace the stars with the post number, which you can see if you hover over "I like this"
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:42, Reply)

and click reply and change the ID to the number you got there. Then the reply is to that post rather than the main post.
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:41, Reply)

Still like the old way though.
Edit - See us old people can't do it.

This is the url to reply here. :)

Cheers for that, I've learned something new today.
Some of the /talk folk haven't exactly gone out of their way to make themselves popular over here. We're (and I take some responsibility here) a tad suspicious of new folk. If you're here to broaden your horizons then please don't let it put you off.

Give the guy a break eh? This place has been virtually troll-free for a couple of weeks, then we treat someone like this? Christ.

Someone been pissing on your squirrels this morning, or what?
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:49, Reply)

because entering it in the textbox leaves a trail my boss can follow.
Ahhh... poor Mr Al, I'm sure she didn't mean to and that it was just an honest bit of drunken silliness. No real harm done, eh?
You can pet my hairy arse if it'll make you feel better?
EDIT I think that maybe you're just bitter because it's been ages since you got on the Best page.
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:54, Reply)

I mean, I was beginning to forget who this 'al' fella was anyway. Someone said he was a cockney? I forget.
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 10:58, Reply)

I'm stooooopid : (
It keeps asking me who I'm talking to.
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 11:12, Reply)

I was putting the number at the end and not the number after php.
I is not stoooopid.
I'll not bother using it though.

ok. Now make a note of the number of the post you want to reply to. If you hover over the "I like this" button with your cursor you will be able to see the post number in the status bar at the bottom.
Now pate the link you have into your browser and replace the last set of numbers with the post number you have noted. Hit enter.
A relpy screen will come up, reply. Hit post.
well done

In my mind I read "Alt the Geordie".
Much apologies.
( , Fri 13 Mar 2009, 12:20, Reply)

Is the way forwards.
This "looooooooooooooooong threads" idea just makes things difficult for me. Sure you can immediately see the chronological development of the thread but they go off-topic too quickly for my liking.
What would be ace is a personal preference whereby you could have it either indented OR non-indented depending on a profile preference.

And it doesn't show the indenting, so /talk is flat out impossible to follow. Flat replies force a little discipline in providing context when replying.

Have you got Mobile View turned on? Cos it looks fine to me.
