That the word "paedophile" when looked at linguistically makes no bloody sense? A lover of children... odd that.

My dad's an english teacher, and he hates the fact that it basicaly means someone who loves childeren. I think that it's just due to the naming tradition for any paraphilia.
EDIT: For clarification, my Dad specialises on Eytomology, which is why he's pissed off with how it's named.

Love emotionally - yes, that's fine. Even physical hugs, nice kisses are all dandy.
Love physically in teh sexy way - nooo. Maybe that's the type of love they're refering to but just didn't make the fact clear enough.

In other contexts, say Bibliophile, or Angliophile the philia thing generaly refers to a non-sexual love. Wheras in paedophilia it refers to a sexual lust.
