Last Night...
I went to the cinema to see "Star Trek".

You should all do the same, it's worth the entrance fee.

My only problem with the film is that Scotty is introduced too late. Apart from that, I think it's fucking ace!

Good news....
...my first thought when I saw the last trailer was "Oh my god, they've fucking ruined it". I had visions of Hollyoaks in space.

I agree with this statement.
It is a fantastic film.

I've heard only good things about it
hence I'm going on wednesday

I will do what I always do in this situation
Put all wonderfully positive comments to the back of my mind before watching it. I hate getting my hopes up then getting disappointed.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 9:25, Reply)
Gonna see it tonight.
Saw Wolverine on Saturday, t'was decent too.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 9:26, Reply)
didn't really have much a plot though
but I agree - was very very decent.
Mmmmmm Lumberjack Hugh Jackman..../wipes chin.

Yeah, not much grey matter,
But lots of red meat.

Fun and dumb really.

*shakes maracas*
hour to hour and a half depending on tourists.

why?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:32, Reply)
I might be going there in a couple of weeks.
Is it as funny as it sounds, or just a shit-hole?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:33, Reply)
the beach is really quite nice. sandy beach, big natural ridge of large stones with hollows to sit in
backed by a kind of moorlike bit with ponies roaming over it.

the rest of the place is pretty shit. or it was last time I was there, there's been some development since.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:38, Reply)
Sounds pretty cool!
I've got a mate who moved there from Brixton.
He's getting a bit weirded-out, so I'm gonna go cheer him up.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:46, Reply)
that's cool
it's definitely possible to have a good time there.

the beach bit is pretty cool.

I nearly went yesterday to see Star Trek but I don't like going to the cinema on my own.
I shall persevere though and try to go this week.

Good Lord Woman!!
Man the fuck up and pay someone to go with you. Works for me.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:20, Reply)
Chekhov's accent is worse than Scotty turning up too late..
I kept waiting for him to say "Simples, Captain"
Crackin' film overall though :)
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:33, Reply)
Not a fan of Trek
But I really enjoyed the new film.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:45, Reply)
Hmm
This isn't the first good review, so may well take a look!
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:46, Reply)
I concur.
They have made proper Star Trek. With different actors. Only on a couple of occasions did I hear the plot crowbar forcing characters into their correct places.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 10:57, Reply)
It's reviewed pretty damn well too!

I saw it yesterday
and really liked it. It was very loud though, but that could just be me getting old.

Spock is a hottie, although I've had quite enough of emotionally unavailable men.

I can feel my heart beat
Is that good enough?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 12:28, Reply)
I was thinking more
of the ability to make eye contact after sex

I went along, expecting, nay almost wanting to be disappointed
As others say, the only mildly disappointing bit was the late arrival of Scotty. Apart from that, I'd give it a good 9.5/10

I'm kinda hoping they make another with the same cast.

The addition of Leonard Nimoy worked well too. It's good to know that's it's not just humans that get really big ears when they get very old.

And, the use of some catchphrases from the original series. "I'm a doctor, not a xxx"

I was glad there was no Shatner too.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:09, Reply)
I was concerned that there would be Shatner
I hate him so much

although it has reminded me of a joke.

Why was Lieutenant Uhuru brown?

because William Shatner

Get to your room now
I shall not tolerate such bloody terrible jokes in this house. Bloody this, bloody that, bloody the other, etc
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:20, Reply)
I thought it was excellent.
Ms Crow decided that it was the best thing she'd ever seen.
And my housemate got annoyed with the plot. (I'm not sure I can say why without ruining it for those that haven't seen it)

What I can't judge is the claim of some fanboys that it's "better than The Wrath of Khan." I may now have to get me a copy of the latter so that I can judge this.
