Anyone want to join the thread of sadness?
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 8:35, 49 replies, latest was 16 years ago)

Just having a sad day. This past week I have been reminded of my inadequateness and at the weekend I have too much time on my hands to dwell on such matters.
I'll snap out of it soon.

you are lovely and kind and beautiful in your own way and that's all that matters.

right at the end, when the police are taking him away in the car he utters the line:
"it's not the despair. i can handle the despair. it's the hope!"
maybe that helps, maybe not...

That line's been one of my mantras my whole life. It's a particularly poignant and pithy one. I've said it to other people too, and just the day before yesterday the Fella said it back to me...

and it often makes people stop and think and smile.
which is nice ;-)

for once I'm not sad. In fact, I'm all sunshine and mutherfuckin happiness at the minute, but am gracing this thread of woe with my nauseatingly joyful presence to tell you - yes, you - BGB that you are not remotely inadequate. I really will have to meet you and tell you this in person.
My god, is this what they call... pandering?

Don't resist it... join us. Let it's warm, sticky embrace cover you and join the rest of OT in the pandertron.

i was gonna get an HSH going but don't think i'll bother now that the torpor has got me...
so, why so sad?
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 8:56, Reply)

My dad went on a pub crawl yesterday so I don't think he's going to be in any fit state to do it and my mum is in Mexico.
Catch you later.

Am a bit concerned about Mr Psyche. He's under serious pressure at work, pay cuts and now 2nd wave of redundancies. And he's not the type to admit he's having a hard time. Last night he called me at 1.30am, and after 4 years of it only being drunken calls, I was shattered and rejected the call. (But then the age old wake-up-needing-to-pee kicked in) when I got back to bed there was a message from him. He wasn't drunk, just sad.
In 4 years he has NEVER called me up in the middle of the night wanting to talk because he's sad. I felt terrible because there's really nothing I can do other than be there for him. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it ok.
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 9:28, Reply)

I'm really lonely.
All my friends have moved away.
I've got no friends.
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 9:32, Reply)

After 18 months you forget about friends. You get a dog and start talking to him. Then you prepare to move to London and have to remember what social skills are.
I have a spare bedroom in our house, and as long as you don't mind sharing with TGB, you can live with us!
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 9:36, Reply)

There's no reason to be sad, kitten. You're intelligent, sassy, sexy and in your prime.
Get out there, grab a young studmuffin* and shag him into REAL exhaustion! Yes, it may be meaningless sex but, after all, it's also meaningless sex! Win-win!
As an alternative here's some big beardy man hugs from CP.

:( Bollocks. 6 months of no cash followed by several close friends moving away does not do wonders for your social life. Any friendly B3ta'ns fancy adopting me?

or i can set you up a bunk at the unit. it's a bit dark, damp and subterranean but nice and quiet...

Subteranian, dank and dark? I could become an urban hermit, scavanging for rats and such! :D I'm beginning to like this plan....

Maybe all of us sad loners could get together.

It's a Sunday.
And I can't go to see Ms Crow because I'm at fucking work. I've got to spend my Sunday trying desperately to crack out some data for a talk I'm apparently giving on Tuesday. And tomorrow I will probably have to spend most of the day packing the instrument and its associated guff up for a test flight which may or may not happen on Thursday.
Christ, I need a rest.
Oh, and my computer's being slow and crap.
And it's hot in my office.

I love the line where he sings "The moment's already past, yeah it's gone. And I'm not here, this isn't happening". Hrm. I should get some more cheerful music

Good cover.
*edit* And her version of Teardrop is very good too.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=48cTUnUtzx4 Seems appropriate, given that it is a rather gloomy sunday
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 13:16, Reply)

Or Johnny cash - Sunday morning. Why are there so many depressing songs about sunday?
EDIT: The last song you posted? Is it a cover? I like it
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 13:23, Reply)

"Lazy Sunday" by the Small Faces always makes me want to top myself...
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 13:24, Reply)

I'll youtube it. Maybe we should all compile a playlist of miserable sunday songs?
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 13:26, Reply)

But I could certainly chip in to a proper compilation...
( , Sun 28 Jun 2009, 13:27, Reply)

(In which it might be worth making clear that suggestions "Lazy Sunday" and U2's "Bloody Sunday" will be met with universal derision)

I too am having a bit of sad time- it's a bit quiet and lonely here at the moment and too fucking hot to be outside for any length of time. Add to that that my friends are all either sick or have dropped off the face of the earth into the void, and it's a tad bit grim at the moment...
At the same time, that's not altogether a bad thing. I find that I do my best creative work when I'm slightly depressed.
