I had an awesome weekend - apart from driving hell getting to/from London - and now I see Vipros is having a shit day which has pleased me. Also the weather is beautiful and I have very little to do in work :D
Question: If you could build your dream house what feature must it have? I want one of those massive wooden slides that I think was featured on Grand Designs Live.

That, and a heated swimming pool. And gardens large enough to gallop a horse in. So stables would also be a must. And a slide into the swimming pool from the bedroom. Oh, and a river going under the house with a clear floor so I can see the water flowing.

Other than Horses. Unless I'm allowed to eat them. A la French.

And wireless repeaters all over the house and gardens so there are no deadspots in the wifi.

you will need to be prepared for your house to get full of water

With the walls being dry erase floor to ceiling.

and a lot of dry wipe whiteboard surfaces.
Edit: damn you, you fellow cross-posting whiteboard fan.

then that's worrying. And possibly a sign of the apocalypse

a 25m swimming pool, a large music room with a Bösendorfer grand piano, and a largish stream running through the garden, which I could dam to provide power to heat the pool and the house, using a water-driven heat pump for maximum efficiency.

Its not like you have to specify it.
Eh?

Three screens, big mixer, racks of gear, plenty of instruments, amps, percussion, booths etc.
I could spend the rest of my life pretending I'm Lenny Kravitz.

Then to get down every morning, a water slide, with as many twists and turns as possible.

and you've got yourself scrubbed right there.

that's a good idea.
Slightly 'Wallace and Gromit', but good nevertheless.

until you are horrendously hungover and vomit all the way down
( , Mon 20 Jul 2009, 9:32, Reply)

The water would wash ti away, and you'd feel much better once you got to the bottom. Or pass out and drown and die. Either way, no more hangover.

a swimming pool and an observatory with a retractable dome
also: not a bad day as such, the guy hasn't said much since his arrival. I should be able to cope.

all around the house for when the taxman comes.
Also, on a more serious note, computer/gaming room with surround sound and one of those 102inch plasmas. Industrial strength fibre optic internet too.

I'd have AC/DC living somewhere so I can have them play to me when I want.

With a view of the sea. And a coal fire with a stool nearby to rest my feet. I can drink Coffee in the winter, read the paper and watch the fishing boats struggle in the stormy water.
In the basement (apart from my imprisoned daughter and grand-daughters) I'll have a custom, top-of-the-range music studio with a range of guitars and amps. On the first floor will be my personal cinema with extensive collection of pirated downloaded films and LOVEFiLM.com rips.
