Weekend thread
I'm off to Oxford tonight to see Miike Snow with my best mate. Daughter's going to see her brother and sister tomorrow so I'll probably lounge around in my pants and play Plant vs Zombies all the way through (again). What awesomeness are you filling your weekend with?
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 11:56, 47 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Football, Tea
and hopefully FAST-FOOD.

I'm also trying to *dons nerd glasses* get my head round ubuntu. Seems to be going well so far. *removes nerd glasses*

How's PoP2?
I got stuck in PoP as I didn't really learn the fighting system properly and got quite a way just mashing the keys in fights, but got to a boss stage and got severely pissed off with it after fifteen attempts to beat them.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:08, Reply)
I've palyed all 3 through
finished the first one, could never beat the final boss on the 2nd or 3rd. This time I'm determined to do it.

to be honest though, I enjoy the running along walls and jumping and stuff so much that I just play it for that
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:12, Reply)
I was gutted when I got stuck.
It had a lovely feel about it and I love exploring and experimenting how to get around different levels. I was disappointed to find there were no cheats for it so I was well and truely stuck. Maybe I'll install it when kiddo's left and try and get around the combat system.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:16, Reply)
I find the combat is better if you relax a bit
and block a lot

there are plenty of guides to it online if you can't get past a certain bit.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:21, Reply)
Absolutely
It's all about blocking and then attacking on the counter.

I'd have liked to have had more of the stupid enemys that were in the first few sections that you could just hack at but the more thoughtful fighting later was still fun even if it was in a different way.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:39, Reply)
the bouncy ninja women piss me off the most
always with the jumping over you and stuff.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 13:05, Reply)
To be pedantic
I'm guessing you mean you've played 4, 5 & 6 all the way through.

The first one was one of the first PC games I ever played and to this day one of the fastest things I can type is:
cd games
cd prince
prince megahit*

I enjoyed 4 (The Sands of Time) but found 5 (Warrior Within) over emphasised the fighting and the new "Edgier" prince to be annoying.I never got round to spending much time with 6 but am looking forward to 7 as it supposed to be much more Sands like.

*Yes, I was a dirty little cheater!
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:38, Reply)
yeah, you know what I mean
sands of time was great, the additions in warrior within were also good though, the new acrobatics and stuff. two thrones was good. introduced even more climby jumpy stuff, and a chariot chase

didn't realise there was going to be another, I shall look it up now!

Picking up some scuba kit that's been in for service/repair for the last four months.
Maybe that will give me the kick up the arse I need to get back into the water.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:04, Reply)
I bet the North Sea gives the old chestnuts something to think about at this time of year?

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:10, Reply)
I wouldn't be so daft as to go this early
But I have it on good authority that the difference in sea temperature between summer and winter is only a couple of degrees; it's just the wind chill factor that makes it seem colder.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:17, Reply)
Yeah I've heard this as well
Once you're actually in the water and you stay in the water it ain't too bad!

Seeing people OFF THE INTERNET tonight.
Tomorrow - delivery of Fridge.
Sunday - Football.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:11, Reply)
HAHA you loser
meeting people off the internet, you must have no friends in real life!
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:38, Reply)
Big charity gig organised by my mate.
I will be on bucket-shaking duty.
There'll be LOADS of people I haven't seen for ages, a big gang of lads who I love swearing with, two exes, a potential candidate, and BOOZE!

I am breaking my January confinement. I am combing my hair and ironing my vest and getting down to the sounds :)
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:11, Reply)
What's with this 'confinement?'
Have you been quarantined?
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:13, Reply)
Self-imposed.
I generally have a January confinement. Saves money, January sucks, etc etc.
I also needed a period of reflection to recharge my thoughts and my powers. My New Year always starts on my birthday, which often coincides with Chinese New Year, so it's all good. January ends tonight, oh yes.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:21, Reply)
I too try and impose the restrictments
Suprisingly how quick you can get back to good health financially simply by not going out on the peev for a month.

I've saved a fortune.

I'm off to see The Hamsters on Saturday
"Essex's finest blues-rock trio" doesn't sound like the most convincing of endorsements, but they are a good live act, and their ZZ Top and Hendrix covers are excellent.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:12, Reply)

finest only
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:15, Reply)
Well, if so,
then also the finest.

Not that I imagine the competition's particularly stiff either way.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:22, Reply)
when I saw ZZ TOP, they did a Hendrix cover
*Twilight Zone music*

Gaming
Just on my way to pick up Mass Effect 2 for the xbox. Then home for a good few hours of shooting aliens in their faces. Want to get my site design finalised, and start on my mates. So a geek fest really.

Post-Exams going absolutely nuts.
Sleeping so much that it I can't physically sleep anymore.
And then on Sunday night... Lacuna Coil! :D
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:13, Reply)
I have quite a busy weekend with one thing and another, albeit mundane tasks.
Saturday night I'm going out drinking with my two sisters. We haven't all been out together for the night since we were around sixteen.

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:33, Reply)
Hahaha!
Don't worry, I think it will be a sedate affair.

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:43, Reply)
It's my sisters you need to worry about.
I'm a boring drunk unless I've had red wine.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:46, Reply)
Look BGB as a man I'm not even going to pretend I understood what you just said there
so I'll smile, nod, look sympathetic and make you a hot drink. Is that okay?

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 12:46, Reply)
1. Tonight: dinner with old and much loved pal
2. Tomorrow: hangover, then babysitting
3. Sun: Larks with daughter

Hanging over it all like a large black cloud, however, is the realisation that I have been stitched up by a FAT, GINGER CUNT for whom I have been sticking up for over 20 years. I am fucking SEETHING.
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 13:40, Reply)
Are you going to get revenge?

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 13:45, Reply)
You know me as a calm and reasonable fellow
not much given to rage and all that kind of stuff, but there is another side to me THAT NEVER FUCKING FORGETS.

Keep an eye on the news....that's all I'm saying.

Well, that and 'hello mate! How're you today?'
(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 13:47, Reply)

(, Fri 29 Jan 2010, 13:57, Reply)

Which makes it funnier when you say you want to punch people.
