God I wish I could do lie-ins but I have to get up once I've woken up. I think it must be an age thing. I used to be able to sleep for England. I had a lovely dream with Roota in although I can't remember anything else about it.
Right I'm off to make my porridge.

I like being in people's thoughts.
I, too, used to sleep for England, but now wake up ridiculously early.
I have no idea what time I finally went to sleep but I think it was way after 2am.
I can haz naps though.
It's sunny! I think I'll go and get the papers.

We were singing together - she did a cracking version of 'Crazy' (figures) then we did 'The First Cut is the Deepest'.
Strange thing is we did the whole songs - I didn't think dreams lasted that long.
Off for brekkie now then shopping for Mrs. Vest's 50th birthday pressie . All and any ideas welcome.

That dream sounds too much like me for it not to have happened.
I hereby declare today National I Dream Of Roota Day.
Edit: WHatever you get her, make it something she can keep forever. Don't get something that's fine and dandy now, but will eventually need replacing.

Got to go in 5 mins - quick: specific ideas Ladies!
(Oh, and morning Roota.)

Jewellery is a good bet. But get whatever you've seen that she likes and wears.
Is she silver/gold/modern/traditional/celtic?
(, Sat 6 Mar 2010, 9:47, Reply)
Something expensive but understated. A nice fine white gold chain with a single diamond pendant.
Go to Tiffanys jewellery on-line.

Jewellery was my thinking. I'll have a look round, but in fact I have a cunning wheeze. The weekend of her birthday we are going away to the town where her favourite jweller has a shop. So she could choose something herself. Or - this is the cunning bit - if she finds something she likes, I can put her off and send my daughter back to get it after. Then give it to her later that night. (I'm sooo glad this is Saturday and I can type a line like that without the usual responses!)
Off now - maybe later, prolly Monday.

And it'd be me, stumbling blearily round the kitchen trying to make coffee and shouting at people for using too much tinfoil. I get strange - or possibly stranger without sleep. Check back tomorrow for the 48 hr update!

Thought I had to go into town to pick something up, turns out I don't!
Thought I might have to go into town later this afternoon for a drink, turns out my house is a suitable venue!

sure wish I'd only just woken up. Stupid bumping radiators
edit: not asleep long enough to have dreamt of roota
(, Sat 6 Mar 2010, 11:45, Reply)
Possibly a dream of the essence of Roota. Then my alarm went off. Fucksticks.
(Not really I just wanted to join in).
And as for you Larry Vest you should be ashamed. A b3tan not giving his wife a pearl necklace for her 50th? What is the world coming to.
(, Sat 6 Mar 2010, 13:07, Reply)
my dad sent an email in all seriousness asking "Do you think your mother would like a pearl necklace for our anniversary?"
I sent him one back calling him a dirty old bastard.
And HIS reply was "Disgusting offspring"

I just took one of those microwave burgers, threw away the cheese slice and sachet of cheap tomato sauce, and added mature cheddar, slice of german salami, sliced sweet red chilis, babyleaf spinach and branston pickle. Delicious!
At this point I'm beginning to think I should just buy nice burgers and buns and stop faffing around with the microwave part.
(, Sat 6 Mar 2010, 13:14, Reply)
They can be frozen, so it's just as convenient as those others, but less crap.
(, Sat 6 Mar 2010, 13:17, Reply)
But on the other hand this meal was ready in 2 minutes - 90 seconds in the microwave while I chopped and prepared stuff, and 30 seconds to apply it. Plus only 1 sharp knife to wash up.
Hard to beat if you're as lazy as I am.

It's like Fried Green Tomatoes or something and I'm totally loving it and I've got a big pebble in my throat.
I'm going to have to pee standing up or watch Monster Trucks after this...
