another music thread
Gid moaning. I have recently been introduced to Galaxie 500 and have taken my first steps into the world of music blogging. What musics have you lot discovered/ been introduced to and has it led on to anything else?

I started a music blog and now I work for NME!

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:02, Reply)
Not really, this never happens.

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:02, Reply)
I'm not expecting it to

I started a music blog and now everyone I ever loved is dead.

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:03, Reply)
That's more like it

Anal cancer is highly underrated
the Rolls Royce of cancers actually.

As a lifelong lover of jazz, I was introduced to Scat
I do not wish to speak of what it led to.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:09, Reply)
I started a music blog
but then I remembered that blogs are gay and stopped immediately.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:12, Reply)
it's much easier to
ensure everyone on a forum knows what they should and shouldn't listen to
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:14, Reply)
It's a more personal service that way, don't you think?

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:18, Reply)
Ha, I was wondering if you'd seen that!

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:40, Reply)
Hell yeah. Utter genius.

i admire your dedication to the cause
but fear the results
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:16, Reply)
Ignore this lot,
as you'll see in the previous thread, a lot of them are drinking subpar uncaffeinated hot beverages and as such are bitter and grumpy at this time of the morning.

Well, moreso than usual.

Hehe
I like that idea actually: blunder into work as usual, the tube's been crowded, the weather's shit and I've got a load of crap to do that I really can't be arsed with...but at least I'm not as much of a cunt as Bowie. Now GIVE ME MY COFFEE!
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:00, Reply)
I started a music blog and accidently resurectted Liberace
who went on zombie rampage of brain bumming.

I wrote a review once for a Lostprophets album
and decided to post a message on their MySpace page (this was a while ago) telling them about it.

They did not reply.

Bastards.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:31, Reply)
Was the review bad?
Lostprophets are shit.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:33, Reply)
It was pretty good, but I was blinded by my affection for the previous albums
I did begin the review by pointing out that they were a bunch of pretentious hypocrites. Not the best way to make friends and influence people. Which, as we all know, is a 1994 Terrorvision album. Duh.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:38, Reply)
Gives me an idea though
Does anyone know if David Bowie has a myspazz page?
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:42, Reply)
Yeah, what exactly is Monty's problem with Le Bowie?
Just out of interest
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:48, Reply)
Ffs don't get him started up again.

I believe this is from around the same time
that the word 'helmet' came back into common parlance on QotW. I don't think I'll ever tire of this vitriolic rant, or the well-placed use of the word 'helmet.'
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:01, Reply)
I was a 'helmet pioneer'

That was a bloody good read
and your continuation of the discussion with A Vagabond below encourages me to take BGB's advice and not get you started

*runs into room*
Did I miss all the insulting of the gozzy-eyed, tombstone-toothed charlatan? And if no one has yet called him an over-rated cunt might I be the first to do so.
Right - back to work.
*runs out again*

He's so 'happening' and 'now' he definitely will do.

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:49, Reply)
It would be unlike him to miss a bandwagon, after all

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 10:50, Reply)
I'll bet you a million quid he 'tweets'

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:00, Reply)
Twitter. The most pointless creation to gain mass popular acclaim since Britpop

(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:07, Reply)
I'll wager a hefty sum no-one is bothering with it in two years' time.
It's the 'deely boppers' of the digital age.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:13, Reply)
I really hope you're right
But our celebrity culture ensures that as long as there are conceited idiots who get their kicks from updating 100,000 people they've never met on what they had for breakfast, there'll be fucktards who want to read about Lily Allen's bowel movements
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:21, Reply)
Read about them? You can buy them
Well, she calls them 'albums'...

Cloudkicker
Holy shit, this guy is awesome.

If you like instrumental prog/metal/post rock. I've been caning it for days. Also, the guy gives away his music for free, as he has no need or want to make a typical 'music career' out of it.

Fantastic.
(, Tue 16 Mar 2010, 11:15, Reply)
Gutted
I thought you were referring to an extremely obscure hip hop release on classic independent label Fondle 'Em, the Cloudkickers EP.

But you aren't. Fucking great record though.
