I'm going to New york tomorrow until Tuesday, then next weekend I'm going to Readings real ale and cider festival.
What are you doing for the next two weekends?

and shall be relaxing in the outer hebrides for the next 2 weeks

because we're right by the coast, and the howling northerly winds will make a mockery of any insect attempts at flight

It sounds like a brilliant holiday. And what is all this pish about midgies in April? Ludicrous. I read an article a while back that said the extremely cold temperatures we had will have severely disrupted the little bastards anyhow. So I hope we are in for a spell of reduced midge activity
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:58, Reply)
makes no difference. What's working in your favour is it is not high summer yet so the rain and gales may teach them midges a lesson..

I have to work part of that weekend.
My mum is flying to Tenerife for three months today. This means I will probably be doing lots of dog sitting till she gets back.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:40, Reply)
but I like spontaneity so I've no idea. There'll probably be a couple of big walks and some housework. I suspect beer and some form of barbequed meat will be involved too.

I'll try to find some in the south, but I'm not sure. Maybe in El Médano.

Sunderland's OK as I remember. I used to have the odd night out there when I was but a student. Which was 20 years ago now I think about it *sobs*

Sunderland - Newcastle, Newcastle - Durham. Service is pretty regular, trains to Durham about every 15 minutes or so (and only takes 10).

This Saturday we're supposed to go and see a mate's band supporting Deborah Bonham (sister of John) at a local club but apparently it's been postponed as she's lost her voice.
Other than that, not a clue.

But I never do, so I imagine there'll be lots of Ballroom practice as per usual and a couple of 10K jogs in practice for the sponsored run in July. Possibly some gardening, and precious little Xbox time.
And Doctor Who. Obv.

Does anyone know how tall she actually is? This sort of thing is important to me, in a slightly fetishistic way. Matt Smith might be a midget for all we know.
I still think she had to be hot because his face looks like it's made of plasticene. But agreed, he is awesome in the role
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:54, Reply)
This was allegedly one of the reasons for scaling up the new Daleks, so they didn't look freakishly short when next to Matt and Karen.
*Edit* I believe she's around 6 ft.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:58, Reply)
I quite like Matt Smith too, he pulls off the role quite well. But his tits aren't as good as hers.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:48, Reply)
Best of the new bunch so far, imo.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:52, Reply)
I quite like him, and the new companion is gorgeous. I really don't want there to be any romance though, it kind of spoils Doctor Who for me
Edit: I'd rather there was two companions, than just one.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:55, Reply)
And I don't like a companion cleverer than the doctor. Twice he's tried something in a desperate final moment and twice he failed. Right, that's not to bad. Bad is that twice she tried and twice she did it right.
When did the doctor lose his connection with all the other species so to need a teenager to tell him right?
And those spitfires fighting the Daleks ship. FFS.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 12:57, Reply)
And 'this should pick up the Dalek's signal' and we get a live tv feed from the Dalek ship *cringe*
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:00, Reply)
OK, OK, I know it's scifi, but when it's all fi and not sci I get very crossed. One thing is that The Doctor does fabulous things with his screwdriver and other is that just normal humans use normal planes to go to space.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:06, Reply)
It was how they managed to convert 1930's technology to fly in space in a matter of minutes.
But I still like it, so ner.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:20, Reply)
Without even the help of the Doctor. Just with a Dalek's robot. I hope they improve. Looking forward to the weeping angels.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:49, Reply)
the Doctor was pretty impotent for most of it too. I mean, he even got killed in one episode mid-way through the run.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:00, Reply)
But at least his companion wasn't better than him, twice in a row.
(, Wed 21 Apr 2010, 13:43, Reply)

The commission will take some time, I think. They guy who's doing the next one is very good though, so I might get him to look at it after he's sorted out the "I was 16 and it was a mistake" on my arm.

Then probably lots of donkey work in the garden, digging fucking holes and lifting fucking turf and erecting fucking trelli. It will be nice when it is all finished I expect. The thought of lifting a load of turf I only laid 5 years ago and near enough broke me in half mentally and physically, kinds boils my piss though.

I will be sourcing kitchen flooring and lighting. I will be bemoaning the continuing lack of cooker, sink, washing machine and hot water. I will be cooking on a camping stove, bbq or microwave. I will be washing dishes in the bath.
The weekend after I will be visiting Catface's uncle who I have never met before but there is Sunday lunch on the agenda and I'll go anywhere there's a cooker, sink, washing machine and hot water.
I have weighed it up and you win the weekends, Chompy.
