For some ungodly reason my work are holding an 80's-themed casual dress day on Wednesday
I need outfit suggestions. Preferably ones that can be made of clothes I already own and that don't require money to be spent
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:24, 72 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Your workplace sounds like my personal hell.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:24, Reply)
You're such a grinch.
But then, I dress like I live in the 80s on a regular basis.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:29, Reply)
Offices are for doing work to get enough money for proper fun
The people i work with aren't my friends I don't want to hang out with them.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:33, Reply)
He's not saying he has to hang out with them,
Just that he has to dress up. Chill out.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:34, Reply)
Then he should go to work in standard shirt and tie office wear saying 'this is what people who worked in offices in the 80's wore'.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:24, Reply)
I'm with you in your opposition to enforced whackiness and the idea that it'll make the workplace one big happy family
But I like dressing up
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:34, Reply)
I was at the staff conference last summer
and people were honestly suggesting making meetings "more fun" by having prizes and games given out.
fuck that I want to get in and out of a meeting as quickly as possible.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:37, Reply)
I'm glad we don't have that sort of nonsense here
organised fun is fucking awful.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:39, Reply)
It was shot down by me and my boss.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:39, Reply)
Why do people insist on having fun at work?
It's an anathema to me.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:43, Reply)
I was at a little street festival last weekend
and some girls with a big billboard came up to us and started trying to force us to have fun. She was all "you look like the kind of people who like to HAVE FUN". It was something about organising giant games in fields. Ugh.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:45, Reply)
revolting
I hope you gave her what for
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:46, Reply)
I was so expecting someone to make a strikethrough on the "fucking in and out" part of my post
that I put a mouseover in, but no one has... I'm not sure if I'm happy or not.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:46, Reply)
everyone has been so moved by how awful that would have been
that normal service was interrupted
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:47, Reply)
I love how you always have to tell people about your mouseovers
so that they'll go back and read them and tell you how witty and clever you are, when the reason no one read them in the first place is because no one cares enough about your actual posts to read them, let alone any secret message you've hidden in there.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:48, Reply)
I'm so deeply pathetic

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:49, Reply)
deeply
deeply pathetic
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:50, Reply)

pathetic dippy over you.

Sorry, that's all I could think of.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:51, Reply)
you could have at least googled the lyrics to get them right

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:53, Reply)
are they not right?
Well, surely misquoting Right Said Fred is better than correctly doing it.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:53, Reply)
I don't think they are
and it would've made it more amusing if it were verbatim. in my opinion anyway.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:54, Reply)
sorry
I didn't mean to upset diehard RSF fans. All one of you.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:02, Reply)
pfft
you know that at least Darth Foxtrot is a fan. There's got to be more than one.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:11, Reply)
Now when I used to insult him he would get very angry and abusive but with you and applebite he just laughs it off.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:50, Reply)
he knows that if he agrees with me
I'll feel really guilty for being mean and will be nice to him again.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:51, Reply)
I said she looked like penny crayon and her cupcakes were store bought this morning.

She's flat chested as well,
that always winds her up.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:15, Reply)
sorry, it just felt like the right thing to say
I had no idea you were flat chested
perhaps you should join a support [roffle] group or something
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:16, Reply)
it's not a disease!
*sobs*

Anyway, boobs are just excess fat

*more sobbing*
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:22, Reply)
Have my stomach fat
I reckon you could make a pair of Fs out of them.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:24, Reply)
I've heard more than a mouthful is just a waste

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:25, Reply)
I'm waiting for them to perfect the ass-to-boob
surgery. Then I'm all over that shit.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:26, Reply)
that's just not correct

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:27, Reply)
My best nights out have always been random "Fuck it, let's go out", rather than "Next month is a house party" things.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:51, Reply)
You could totally do a House and go dressed as 1880, or 2080.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:26, Reply)
That's a fucking brilliant idea
Who knows how they'll dress in 2080? I can wear whatever I like! Break out the jodphurs!
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:27, Reply)
You could create a whole back-story about a post-appocoliptic future, talk about WW3 and what happened when the BNP got in power or something.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:34, Reply)
^this
is fast becoming the greatest idea in the history of the internet. I'm going to get all the clothes I never wear any more but haven't thrown out yet for some reason, put them ALL on and say that fashion became of secondary importance to warmth after the sun went out in '71
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:36, Reply)
that is the best idea
I suggest wearing a balaclava as well
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:38, Reply)
Cheers Al
Now log out of Vipros' profile before I report you for BASTARDING
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:42, Reply)
haha
NEVER!
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:45, Reply)
Hmmm.....
It all started when the BNP got in power, europe soon followed and the EU was disabandoned within a decade. The League Of Aryon Nations soon took over and created a ghetto they created out of Africa. They gave them the equpiment and technology to make the most of their natural resources, in general as a continent they were doing much better, this was all in exchange for all balistic weapons of any kind. They had the power to do what they want, and were given methords of seeding rain clouds for harvesting. Nobody went hungry, aids was all but whiped out. It all looked good until Lord Chang of Koria (who, incidently, took over the whole of south-east asia) managed to get into the Trident 2 and made the USA uninhambitable. Africa, which was looked down as a technological black hole by the world was now a utopia, and the LOAN set it's sights on taking over.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:49, Reply)
I've got the perfect idea for you.
This

^This
God this!
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:29, Reply)
It has already been suggested that I could make a convincing Madonna
My counterargument is that Madonna wasn't a man in the 80's as he is now. However apparently the subject matter being a woman is not considered a barrier to my pulling it off. As it were.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:29, Reply)
Please please please
Go as Madonna. Like that or with the pointy breasticles. And POIDH.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:37, Reply)
So tempted
Tragically, I think that if I get hold of a blonde wig it'd be completely doable
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:42, Reply)
Just wear some tight jeans.
Get a big white flouncy shirt from somewhere. (The flouncier the better). Bouffant your hair as much as possible and wear some makeup. Simple.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:42, Reply)
It should be simple
But I own no tight jeans, cos they look stupid on men, am disinclined to purchase a flouncy shirt cos I'll never wear it again, and my hair is currently too short to be bouffant-ed.

The makeup's a piece of piss though
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:44, Reply)
Have you a suit?
Get some fuck off shoulder pads to put in and wear makeup. Don't forget the thin tie.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:48, Reply)
That was possibly the straightest thing you've ever said on here
Up until the bit about the makeup.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:26, Reply)
Oh come on.
Is your ballroom dancing get-up not essentially an 80's gay costume?
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:45, Reply)
I thought that...

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:15, Reply)
Of course you did.
Because you have eyes.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:18, Reply)
I have several.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:19, Reply)
Why don't you just go in one of your village people outfits.

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 13:49, Reply)
that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of

(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:11, Reply)
Shirt and tie.
People wore those in the 80's.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:14, Reply)
Vest, ripped denims, big boots, levi jacket.
BROS!!!
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:20, Reply)
this is exactly how Applebite dresses
I never made the connection before.
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:25, Reply)
Oh my god! I'm SO sorry!
Will she recover with time?
(, Mon 7 Jun 2010, 14:27, Reply)

Plus Luke Goss is so hot. Srsly
