you get an immediate (at least) tripling of the price. I knew it was bad, but didn't realise quite how bad.

I am slightly ashamed that I have insisted on booking a proper (read: expensive) wedding photographer as I am incredibly unphotogenic. Her photos are amazing though so I hope she can work miracles with me. Everything else we've got pretty cheap.

Massive 2 tier cake for £80, Band £120, Photographer £100 ect.

Everything else we've managed to get within our budget, but I'm sure that if I wasn't so crap at lying we'd have got it cheaper.
Me: "Hi, I'd like to book your band for a party in August please"
Astute band booker: "Is it for a wedding by any chance?"
Me: "Errrrr yes."
ABB: "cha-CHING!"

I want to be able to look back and think "ahh didn't we all look beautiful" rather than the usual fighting over which photos to display because ones that he looks nice in I'm doing my double chin thing, etc.

Although, my parents got my father's brother to take the pictures, as he's very good and had a great camera. He forgot to put the roll inside it (this old cameras, you remember?) so my parents don't have any pictures from their wedding.

yet quite funny at the same time.
I wish my parents had no pictures - it's like looking into the not too distant future when I look at my dad

especially if you do it abroad, then they double the already inflated wedding prices when they hear that you're British.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 9:34, Reply)
then to get married you have to register all your details with the consulate, and pay a shit load of money to boot

It's not only expensive, but fucking complicated. And because the bf is British and we want to marry in Spain, we need to pay a "professional translator" to translate into Spanish all his documents.

I think I'm going to book the restaurant for a big family reunion, rather than for a wedding. They easily add £30pp!
