right, time to start some serious planning.
I've got my bash on the 28th of November. I'll be in London at that point. I'm not even sure if anybody remembers it's on but I'm needing some help in the venue picking and booking stuff. Where are bashes in London usually held, and what time did you wanna show up?

Alt Q: I had a very bizarre Doctor Who dream last night - he was saving the world from a guy wearing a laser/razor suit while I looked for a giant ostrich egg to help. What did you dream about?
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:02, 86 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I dreamt I was climbing a huge ladder
and next to it was another ladder and if I was on that one I'd "score points". So I shuffled across to it but it was no different to the first one. And the whole thing was very high up so it was scary.

Now that I think about it, it's quite the metaphor for life.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:11, Reply)
that sounds a bit frightening indeed.
so yeah, pretty good metaphor!
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:12, Reply)
I slept like a log last night
so I can't remember any dreams that I may or not have had.

If my memory serves me correctly, I'll be in London that weekend. If I've nothing on during the Sunday I may well come along, if you'll have me.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:18, Reply)
Of course I will! I just don't know where anything is,
hence why I'm asking for help as to where good places are!
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:22, Reply)
I'm not sure where London bash places are
but there are plenty of folk here who do.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:26, Reply)
London's not that big, you'll be fine.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:30, Reply)
Bigger then where I live by about 50 million ;)

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:34, Reply)
Christ, if London holds 50 million the rest of the country must be deserted.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:36, Reply)
Not if where he lives is 'Scotland'.
London's daft huge. I hate it.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:43, Reply)
Wait what?
It's too early in the morning.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:47, Reply)
it was a lousy hyperbole.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:00, Reply)
As for bash venues
The Yorkshire Gray (Grey) has hosted quite a few in the past. The Porterhouse in Covent Garden is big and has quite a lot of good beers. DG's is at Mabels Tavern, handy for the main stations.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:21, Reply)
I like the look of the Porterhouse,
are there booking fees or anything?? I can't seem to find them if there are...
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:30, Reply)
Probably.
Just email them.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:31, Reply)
Descend
And integrate. Bash commence!
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:31, Reply)
We don't generally book, do we?
Maybe just inform them that there'll be a group of however many people you're expecting or so.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:32, Reply)
sounds like a plan.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:36, Reply)
I don't know that we even do that normally
If there's like 30 people signed up, might be worth enquiring about taking over a room. A lot of places do that free since you'll be drinking lots. I think the Porterhouse would do that.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:37, Reply)
t0ria did so in Manchester.
I don't think the Christmas bash is even held in a separate room, and there were loads last year.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:41, Reply)
Just turn up.
Anyone who pays to host a party in a bar is an idiot, and you aren't one.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:43, Reply)
I dreamt that I had broadband and TV again after two weeks without.
It was just a fucking dream, unfortunately.

Some poor 12-year-old in Bangalore is going to get it with both barrels this morning. I feel sorry for them. A bit.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:41, Reply)
Monty, I saw something last night that warmed my cockles

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:45, Reply)
And what lovely cockles they are too.
What did you see?
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:48, Reply)
It was a photo.
Monty don't do that thing you got offered. Keep inviting good things into your life. You need those more than dosh.
/hippy shit.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:49, Reply)
And what was in this photo? Or can you not say?
My meeting has been postponed until this evening. I am keeping an open mind as I really could do with a cash injection.

Two months of paranoia could get rid of a credit card or my overdraft. It's something I do need to think about.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:51, Reply)
Get a bar job instead
Or something mate.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:53, Reply)
I'm far too much of a snob to countenance such a climbdown.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:56, Reply)
well your snobbery has served you well so far

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:20, Reply)
My snobbery is like a comfortable pair of old slippers.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:40, Reply)
I'll not say, but it involved a hair bun ;)
Oh Monty, you'll pay the credit card off eventually.
Imagine if your ex found out. Imagine the paranoia.
Don't rock the boat. You've suffered too much to get to this good stage in life.
I am genuinely concerned for you like an old aunty.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:24, Reply)
Ah, the 'samurai' style.
*winks*
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:41, Reply)
I feel sorry for that lad in Bangalore
Poor Nigel.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:45, Reply)
Morning everyone!
*Hello shoes, I'm sorry but I'm going to have to stand on you again*

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:51, Reply)
I don't know.
Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Right. To the shower before going out for a large breakfast!

I had an extremely vivid sex dream about my only mental ex.
I immediately woke up and phoned the current Falstaffette to tell her about it. This turned out to be a bad move.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:48, Reply)
You idiot.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:49, Reply)
I wasn't thinking clearly
and in my caffeine-deprived sleep-addled onanistic fugue state it seemed like a decent topic of conversation.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:52, Reply)
My ex would sometimes dream I'd been unfaithful
And refuse to speak to me the following day. Her dreams were that vivid she'd believe I'd fucked off with someone else, whilst being sound asleep next to her.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:51, Reply)
Was your ex retarded, Jeff?

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:52, Reply)
Vivid dreams can affect you strongly the day after.
Last night I dreamt I was really horrible to my sister and I feel a bit guilty today. I may go and buy her something at lunchtime.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:54, Reply)
Yes, but in the end they're only dreams
and nobody's really responsible for them, and they're not real.

I expect logically explaining it thus will get me out of all trouble.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:55, Reply)
Don't be a div.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:58, Reply)
Sorry : (

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:02, Reply)
Ace I'm going to drop subliminal messages into my posts today to try and make you dream about being nasty to me.
I love presents.

BGB: BE NASTY TO CAVE DUCK

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:43, Reply)
Clearly
Although it might just have been the fact shes a woman the resulted in the mentalist behaviour.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:54, Reply)
Because men just don't get mental at all eh Jeff?

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:02, Reply)
not to the point where we blame other people for what happened in our dreams
I've been on the receiving end of that too. It is fucking mental.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:03, Reply)
There are guys out there that get jealous if you so much as breathe near antother guy.
That's a form of mentalism.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:05, Reply)
on average women are more mental though.
there's a considerably higher level of background mentalness. Men just have some significant outliers.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:06, Reply)
Women are more mental than men because we are the ones that have to put up with you lot.
Obviously.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:09, Reply)
that's absurd
and you know it
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:10, Reply)
Typical bloody woman.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:56, Reply)
I've got one.
'Women seem more mental to men because their minds operate in slightly different ways. Similarly, women don't truly 'get 'men's behaviour.'
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:10, Reply)
That's a form of Moatyism.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:07, Reply)
She's learning.
This is remarkably self aware behaviour from a woman. Well done love!

:P
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:04, Reply)
I do this!
Although it'll be the other way around, I'll dream I've cheated on Wiggy and I'll feel so bad about it I'll be extra nice to him the next day.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:21, Reply)
You twit.
No matter what you say, telling your current partner about a dream which involves an ex, is a dumb thing to do.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:51, Reply)
See my reply to Boyce.
Anyway, it's okay. I'm going through to see her later, and she'll forgive me if I buy her something nice.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:53, Reply)
Flowers from a florist, petrol from a service station.
The above may help.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:55, Reply)
I was thinking more along the lines of a tongue piercing (her tongue).

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:56, Reply)
I assume it will be done proffesionally.
Not by you, with a pair of mole grips, a hammer and a rusty nail.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 8:59, Reply)
She was tempted to get a gonzo piercing off one of her mates actually.
I dissuaded her with promises of money and no infected tongues.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:03, Reply)
How kind of you.
Get to it then.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:06, Reply)
Well maybe I won't now.
Just to spite you.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:07, Reply)
I don't remember any dreams last night
because I successfully had a good nights sleep.

I did listen to the new album from The Orb and Dave Gilmour though. I enjoyed it.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:00, Reply)
Oh I 'got' that too.
I bet our mutual benefactor that you'd like it - seeing as you are 'gay for Gilmour'...
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:07, Reply)
indeed
did you have a listen?
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:10, Reply)
No
Because I have also been sent what must be over 50 albums in the post, and I barely dipped a toe into them last night. That man is a complete hero.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:36, Reply)
blimey
he is indeed.

If you are at all familiar with The Orb and with Dave Gilmour then you will already be able to imagine what that album sounds like.
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:40, Reply)
I know more of The Orb's work than I do DG's solo output if I'm honest.

(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:43, Reply)
his solo stuff is ok
I was more talking about his style of guitar playing
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:49, Reply)
What, 'technically flawless but somewhat lacking in genuine emotion
and thus ultimately unfulfilling?'
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:55, Reply)
pretty much, yes
but in a way that works well with chilled out beats and sounds
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 10:12, Reply)
Oh I had a propery weird dream
I moved to london but the guy Imoved with was weird and the flat had no front door so loads of people were wandering through all the time and the shower wasn't big enough to stand sideways in. It was overlooking a park though.
Anyways I FREAKED OUT at how shit it was and called Wooks, he told me to meet him a Gonz's but it took me ages to find a tube as the london in my head had a very poor transport network. So anyway I am miserably hiking round london with all my stuff in a couple binbags when Wooks finally finds me and we go to Gonz's and it's lovely and gonz makes us dinner.

I am taking this as moving in with Gonz is full of WIN (also thanks kind dream Wooks)
(, Tue 12 Oct 2010, 9:41, Reply)

No interesting dreams last night (or at least none that I remember). when I was younger I used to have a recurring nightmare about being chased around a supermarket by a giant, sparking light bulb. (possibly brought on by my sister using me in an electrical safety poster she did as a school project...)

May well turn up to the bash provided uni doesn't get too crazy before then.
