This is a question Presents

What are you buying your loved ones this Christmas? We're looking for inspiration and reckon a big share-a-thon of ideas will help everyone buy better gifts this year.

BTW: If your family reads B3ta and you're worried about giving the game away then tell us what you bought last Christmas.

Nearly 2 years.
Yes i can afford it, i hope so anyway i've already bought it
(, Tue 1 Dec 2009, 17:09, closed)
Then yes
The only reason I'd say not to do it is if you'd only been together a short time, but 2 years is long enough :)

who cares if he can afford it?
it's whether she makes it worth it that counts

Not wanting to piss on your chips, mate
But in my experience you buy this sort of stuff only if you know they're spending about the same on you. Not for selfish reasons, you understand. If you end up shelling out a shitload on some bling and get a book token in return, it makes for a pretty uncomfortable Christmas day for your girlfriend...

Best stick with the ironing board cover and be done with it.

Seriously though, sounds like a great pressie. But if its sensible advice you need I think you may be in the wrong place....

This ^^

One christmas a few years ago now I brought the now mrs Covboy a bountiful load of rather nice presents and what did i get in return ?
A lynx box set that's what !!

I would say i wasn't bothered and in fairness i had only been at it with her for 6 months at the time but jesus H Christ i have to say
even i made the comment that she was tighter than a camels ass in a sandstorm that day.

Now as a joke and almost as a rememberance of that day i get a lynx box set from her every year on xmas day.
anyone that tells you materialistic things or the price doesnt come into it obviously hasn't had a shit gift yet....

make no mistakes xmas can be a fucking lethal time of year for arguments
my mates gift of a rolling pin for his mrs will stand testament to that

I'm a girl
and it sounds like she probably told you it was pretty because she wanted it for christmas, so well done!

If you've been together for 2 years I guess you know roughly what you're spending on each other by now, so I wouldn't worry.

You either have more cash to spluff than you have common sense (I wish I did), so you are a romantic and/or and a gentleman. If it's what she asked for then that's all that matters, I guess.

I didn't get the "I'm not buying bloody perfume" that I asked my BF for last year. I got a (still rather cool) bicycle computer. And am getting a telescope this Xmas. I'll be able to see the rings of Saturn. On Christmas Day. My BF's ace.

protect your interests
Best keep the receipt, just in case there's a hiccup in your relationship in the near future, you'll spend weeks after thinking about the dosh that went to waste !

Diamonds
Well your Mums not going to give you a BJ on Christmas morning is she!

Agree - you need to keep the receipt and keep tabs on where the bracelet is. You can always recycle it for the next gf.

2 years means nothing I'm afraid. Won't make a blind bit of difference when she gets the hump, with you or has it with someone else, and buggers off.

Hope it goes well!!

a bit cynical
surely? I'm assuming you mean keep tabs on the bracelet until he has given it to her? After that it becomes a gift
(, Wed 2 Dec 2009, 10:54, closed)
^ This.
After you've given it to her, there's no taking it back. Mr Cynic up there seems to have a case of the Once-Bittens. My ex tried to take back the Macbook he gave me for Christmas when we broke up. That did not go down well.

Hold on, everyone!
This bracelet is not necessarily the shiz...

It could well be Elizabeth Duke's finest, in which case, if his GF has class, she would have said it's 'pretty', when actually meaning, 'that's the kind of thing a tramp would wear'.

Obviously if it is from somewhere nice, you can ignore the above comments...
(, Wed 2 Dec 2009, 14:20, closed)

I misread that. I thought it said "pretty 2 months ago" in diamonds which would have been a very risky present indeed.
