This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

Gone a bit quiet on here, hasn't it?
Did everybody fail to save their computers from a blazing house fire or something..?

Yes, I know, the sun is shining and most of the UK except Wigan is in the grip of a heatwave. And also, people do have lives, with, it seems, the exception of rachelswipe who appears to be at work. What are you thinking, woman? Get to the pub, now! That's an order!

Ahhhh, sunshiney goodness
I've been drinking sparkling Pinot Grigio at a barbecue, now I'm napping on the sofa with all the windows open and the curtains billowing gently in the breeze... bliss... Dancing time soon though and that's gonna be hellishly hot. Still, camping tomorrow and that's going to be fun.

Well, glad
You're having a good time.

*is bored out of his mind*

Plus GTA is broken... so... I'm not happy.

We've just come back from the pub!
We've had a lovely day sitting in the car (me swearing and driving, him ranting and navigating),
going to the shops (bah!)
purchasing a ball gown (me, obviously),
a pair of trainers (him),
bit of writing (me),
swearing at the car (him),
then on the bikes and down to the pub by the river, lovely!
:D

Bah!
I spent all morning waiting for my ISP providers customer service department to ring, which they didn't until an hour ago to confirm that my internet was now going to be working continuously instead of intermittently.

Then I had my sister for dinner. She tasted of chicken.

I just got in
From washing the car.

Should've done it when it was still light.

...

I'm actually looking forward to work tomorrow, that's how dull a weekend it's been.

bbq
I went to Asda and bought a £13 barbecue which was shoddily fabricated in a Chinese sweatshop out of that sheet metal they use to make the sliding flaps on floppy disks.

Still, with the aid of a couple of waxy firelighter things and 4 tea lights and a small footpump to create a stream of fresh air I managed to get the thing up and running with the need for any flammable liquids at all. Go me!

Well,
me and the sweary one have been in the garden all weekend, washing gravel, filling our lovely new pond, and painting the porch - walls are magnolia, and ceiling sky blue, if anyone is interested. My wrist now hurts like buggery, and not in a good way either...

@ M M
But... using flammable liquids is the whole point of having a bbq!

I was out
stealing rocks.

See, I have this brick patio and have had a fire pit of the sort that stands on legs above ground. While it's been nice, I wanted something more useful and permanent- so I've hired a friend to build one for me.

Only thing is, square-ish chunks of granite cost about two quid apiece, and I need about sixty of them.

But if you know where to look, cobblestones that have been removed from the old streets can be found, as well as other chunks of cut stone that are being discarded.

So what have I been doing? Combing downtown for stones.

I have a good thousand to fifteen hundred pounds or more of rock that I scavenged today, and got out of my truck just before the rain hit.

I ache.

Stealing rocks?
Mr Loon, I'm ashamed of you. The correct terminology is 'strategically borrowing'... much less incriminating (if you know what I mean - nudge, nudge, say no more. Etc).

I've been gigging
Working at Redcar of all the godforsaken places. It didn't go well. Rarrrgh.

Well...
on Saturday, Mr Maladicta threw a sickie and we went to Margate for the day, had chicken in copious quantities, went bowling, played air hockey and other arcade joys, walked along the seafront, contemplated new DS games, played minigolf, had some ice cream and went home, then yesterday we went to Whitstable to see his nan and then went food shopping, came home and watched ALF all afternoon and InuYasha all evening :)

Finals? What finals?
