This is a question Worst Band Ever

If I was in charge of the B3ta fatwa department, we wouldn't be hearing too much from Simply Red in the future. Who's on your musical shit list and why?

Jimi Hendrix
What's so special? 100s of guitarists are just as skillful, and a damn sight more tuneful. Was he the first to play like that, or the most proficient at the time? What's the attraction?

In fact, the only thing I have liked was Voodoo Chile. Not a recording, but a midi file played through a Soundblaster AWE 64 soundcard on SUSE Linux 6.3 with whatever drivers came with the OS. It sounded deliberately out of tune but not dischordant at all and I friggin' pissed myself laughing when it started playing.

Yes but
not many of them can have sex with the guitar musically, then physically then raep it (physically as well).

Yes, he pretty much was the first to sound like that.
Part of this is because Roger Mayer was building his effects pedals from scratch, and often bringing new and updated versions to every gig.

I know it sounds a bit clunky and trite now - a bit like E. E. 'Doc' Smith's early scifi - but you have to remember that it was very early stuff and it would be nearly 20 years before anyone else would catch up.

My missus has rants about Hendrix. I tell her he was years ahead of his time, she sez it's bollocks. Mind you, she's been to see Take That.

Oooh, forgot about them.

I thought it was
too hard to try and emulate a guitarist, for example Santanna would not be able to copy Hendrix and vice versa, due to the fact that they breathed differently and had different sized hands etc (Hendrix had hands like shovels). That does sound like a load of bollocks but I'm sure I heard Santanna say that in an interview, when asked about who was better.
