and how long have pigs been domesticated?

boar is boar, pork is pork. At least not when they were distinct species still.

versus having domesticated pigs in our own back garden?
Also have to take into consideration the trade element. How expensive/cheap were pigs considered to be compared to other animals. Were they the caviar of our day, or just the bread and butter to be casually tossed aside when we're full?

uses for all of them. Anything better than gruel or cabbage was caviar.
Sort of. This isn't very factual, we aren't even talking about any date in particular

If not, when did boars turn into pigs and become domesticated?
To answer your question accurately, I think we're going to need quite a detailed timeline.

if by pork you mean prepared by/for humans. If you don't count feeding bacteria and insect larvae as a waste, maybe eaten.

At first they roamed the woodlands free
They foraged and they snorted
Too bad for them someone thought, "Tea?"
"I'll roast that boar, it's sorted!"
They soon forgot their boar-ish ways
Became quite pink and friendly
By way of thanks, with crates and planks
We drove them round the bend-y
We wrap them up in cellophane
We fry and roast and boil,
Do they remember their old life
The forest glades and soil?
They're said to be intelligent;
Perhaps if they can snatch
Some time to plan, they can escape
And start again...from scratch.
