Skug has a point. In future it's worth remembering that if a picture is a photo then PNG is fucking rubbish and grossly inefficient -- JPG was designed for photos and is much more efficient. If a picture has big solid blocks of colour, on the other hand, JPG is fucking rubbish and makes your picture look like ass -- PNG was designed for things like that.
I'm not really that fussed about filesizes but it's a nerdish equivalent of using a flathead screwdriver on a Phillips screw. It works, but it's not necessarily a good idea.
