I've trawled a bit of the archive to no avail - can any of you wonderous lot tell me how you do the thing where you can link to a picture and within the img src have some text to appear upon the picture? I believe it may be a php thing.
Thank-you muchly in advance.

It's the only down side. Any idea why that is?
Seems like a fundamental error!..

in IE.
You probably need to do both, to cover everybody.
edit:Sorry, you get the title as a tooltip in IE, and the alt text while the picture loads/borks

Hmmm, looks like I've broken mine slightly somewhere along the way though! I've knocked th ealignment all to buggery. Ah well. It can be done in most webserver side languages. Some have used PHP, others ASP, and I've used perl. And I think flibz used coldfusion.
I think the knocked alignment gives it charm and panache, so well done you. I'm impressed, frankly.

back when this one first appeared. The answer is easy: yes of course, it's possible. But you'd not fit much on there. This one was only ever a prototype anyway.

The perl thingy I used to do it (Imagemagick) is pretty powerful - it can do a lot of the things a desktop package can do but on the webserver (convert, crop, resize, merge images, add text, filters, generate animations, and so on).
This thing is one of the many project type things I never seem to get back to so I can push it as far as the ideas I have for it have gone!
edit - just read back that last sentence. It lost grammatical integrity somewhere. Ah well, I'll take that as my 'go to bed' cue!

Yes it's a php thig. I don't know how it's done, but you can make your own in m3ss3ng3r thanks to the genius of Flibz.
