# very nicely done
*edit* is it me, or are the new CS5 icons utter pants?
(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 10:40, archived)
# Indeed they are.
Utter Pants Icon Design are very proud of their work, I'll have you know.

# It's where the money is
This piece of 'strategic marketplace repositioning' cost around 11 million, so I hear:

# ...and was binned within 12 months*
of rollout. Impressive.

*if memory serves

# oh yes - that was the worst rebrand ever - it was truly awful
and then they became Santander - so they rebranded again

I've been with the Abbey for 18 years now - it's a rubbish bank and is getting worse

they've just changed their charges now, so instead of being charged £6.18 a month for being overdrawn - I'll be charged a flat £10 -"just to make things clearer"

(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 11:58, archived)
# Interesting use of the word 'clearer'.
When 'substantially more expensive' would be nearer the mark.

# I'd go elsewhere if I hadn't got myself so securely tied to the money grabbing bastards

# 'Pillars of stability in these trying economic times', surely?
Yeah, right....

# Yeah, bloody Lloyds TSB have just introduced something similar

# Well, it's not as if they are 80% + public owned and are paying out massive bonuses, or anything like that...
Sorry, what was that...?

# I like the idea of being sent a text just before you go over your overdraft
but seriously - the "until 3pm overdraft amnesty" is a good idea

(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 12:08, archived)
# I dunno, I usually already know I'm gonna go overdrawn
and there's usually nothing I can do about it, or I already would've...

# To be fair, most of the fee was used to buy a CS5 licence

# Cheers!
CS5? I still use potatoshop7!

# I only upgraded from 7 four months ago :)
My personal philosophy (apply this as you will to software, mobile phones, cars etc): IF IT DOES THE JOB, THEN YOU DON'T NEED A NEW ONE!

# but if your clients keep sending you artwork created in the very latest version
you have to keep up

(really only applies to InDesign and Illustrator)

# Bloody .docx...
(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 11:17, archived)
# Yes, what the hell is that all about? I keep getting sent those, and .xlsx

# it is the utter filth
that is office 2007, a product so vile someone at microsoft should have executed the entire development team.
2003 worked ok, why fuck it up and make it unusable for everyone?
(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 11:22, archived)
# This is Microsoft we're talking about

# ^ this with bells on.
Awful, awful program with no new functionality. Purely to make a quick buck. Uninstalled it from my new work laptop and put 2003 back on. I couldn't be arsed to wait to download the plugin for back-compatibility, so I just use Open Office to open them. I much prefer Open Office, just a shame so few people use it. It's free, FFS...

# Ah, the special 'open, XML based file format'
that is completely proprietorial. Bless their little cotton socks.

# The only reason I upgraded in the end
it didn't look very professional me asking people to back-save things all the time :(
(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 11:18, archived)
# exactly
can you backsave please -we don't have CS5

er - can you backsave again please -I can't open CS4 docs...

Also now got Office 2011 - so the .docx .xlsx .pptx issues are a thing of the past

# It's also feckin' slow on my 32 bit NON Mac Pro
*edit* I've not used brushes yet as I keep forgetting I've got CS5 and defaulting to CS3 - WTF? I concur - they look like makeup brushes!
(, Tue 8 Feb 2011, 11:14, archived)
# It's the 'Preset' menu!
It's horrible, just big samples, no simple size list like previous :(
