# My mum's community art project #2
I did another one.

(To recap: anyone at all can wander in [it's on the High Street] and paint/draw whatever they like on one of 100 9' x 6' jigsaw pieces. To be exhibited in a couple of weeks' time)

# This deserves biscuits
and a click
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 1:53, archived)
# is it a jigsaw though?
doesn't a jigsaw, when complete make one coherent pic? Isn't this more of a montage?
just askin'
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 1:59, archived)
#
That'd be a jigsaw puzzle.

But you're right, it's not a jigsaw. But, y'know, it's a community art project. Broad appeal, accessibility and so on. All the bits fit snugly together, apparently.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:06, archived)
# a jigsaw puzzle doesn't need a picture on it to make it a puzzle though
in fact, if there were no picture it would still be a puzzle, but much more difficult ;)
either way, i like the idea and i like this pic.
Will the organisers be ok with your graphic depiction of what i can only assume to be some kind of telekenitic type brain murder?
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:34, archived)
# Ta for the kind words.
And hey, kids fucking love a spot of telekinetic brain murder, you know that.
Nearly as much as they love direct, out-and-out, brutal physical mutilation with outlandishly oversized Japanese weaponry.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:45, archived)
# I'm pretty sure the only requirement is that it's been cut by a jigsaw
My mum had one which was all yellow called "flat banana".

I guess some people enjoy that kind of thing.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 6:08, archived)
# Although these days I wouldn't be surprised if there was a more efficient way of cutting it than using a jigsaw
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 6:10, archived)
# that's what i'm thinking, though i really want to be wrong
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 7:33, archived)
# The type of saw involved shouldn't detract from the puzzle making
maybe someone should start a company called jigsaw, kind of like how there's a company here called '100% australian beef' which means mcdonalds can say they have 100% australian beef burgers.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 10:34, archived)
# Done.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:01, archived)
# which bit of a jigsaw is that?
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:04, archived)
# Come on bus.
I had to make the background black so the come would show up. Pardon me for tittering, but I thought it was very clever.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:08, archived)
# It is clever.
This pic wasn't clever in 2007, and is still stupid even today!
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:11, archived)
# YAY!
That's Thor, right? I imagine him saying "Milk, milk, milk, milk, milk, milk, lemonade, hot dogs around the corner."
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:15, archived)
# i'm rissing like a mother fucker here
edit, not by the thor pic
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:15, archived)
# Thor has 6 blue tits.
Obvious if you think about it.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:20, archived)
# I was RISsing meself a bit, til I realised it's a different version of the one we used to punch and kick each other to as tiny tots:
Milk, milk, milk, milk, milk, milk, lemonade, round the corner chocolate's made.
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:31, archived)
# i can't think of anything to do, i need some inspiration

# ah, thought as much
what are you using to do this?
i'm trying it in CS5 and it's shit. the frames just goes increasingly transparent, and doesn't really animate
ah, sorted it. position and effects
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:37, archived)
# I used The Gimp and gifsicle.

(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:53, archived)
# it may be useless, but i think i want one
actually, it reminds me of the swing at our local play park. it has weird handles, so disabled children can swing on it.
I've tried it and it's fucking impossible to use
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 2:58, archived)
# :)

(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 3:46, archived)
# sure, why not?
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 7:23, archived)
# because of the rotation of the feet
are they seperate layers? when i try to rotate a layer it rotates on every frame. am i doing something wrong?
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 7:35, archived)
# yes--each foot orientation is a layer of its own
If you make duplicate layers, then you can re-orient or transform them independently
(, Sat 20 Aug 2011, 7:59, archived)
# Actually
I think in that gif, I have only one "rotated" layer for each foot. all of the kicking is done with the same rotated foot layer, just moved to different locations on the frame canvas.
