Re: the landmine

At the end of the day we admit it's a silly thing to do but there is a disclaimer which says that you can get hurt by doing this - I'm relying on a small amount of intelligence from the reader on this one.

I can't stop people doing this (and consequently hurting themselves) - but at the same time why should a large amount (last time I looked 8,000+) people not be able to freely look at this stuff for the sake of a few fools? and if they weren't reading this page what else would they be doing? Attempting wrestling moves they saw on TV perhaps? Firing a gun at someone because that's what they saw in GTA:Vice city?

The problem isn't material like this online - it's people who don't take things in and take responsibility for their own actions. And in the case of children who get hold of 'questionable material' (I'm assuming that you would class this page as such) then it's a parental issue. Television and the internet are not parental replacements or babysitters they're forms of communication. sometimes people are going to use them to say something you disagree with.

Capeesh?

(I've only had 3 so far - I just don't feel like responding to them individually or do-gooders sending me more)

send complainers an autoresponder-style email saying "glad you enjoyed my website"

if they still complain, ask them why they aren't monitoring their child's internet usage and why they aren't good parents.

# The real issue is keeping inapropriate stuff out of the hands of young children
Which is the parent's responsibility. In fact the talking point for this week on h2g2 was all about parental responsibility, good read.

# Some people are awfully sensitive..especially to criticism.
I got this today.
"Sexxx or Something else Comment:
I got 7 out of 16 right in the quiz. The comment came up saying has it been that long since I had something or something to that extent because the score was low. I took this quiz because my cousin sent it to me and I never visited the site before. I was so shocked when that comment came up. I considered it to be quite insulting and rude. My opinion may not matter but this is how I felt.
Take care"

# Its total lack of responcibilty that is wrong with this world.
If I do something wrong, I stand up, admit it, and move on. Im sick of this "It can't be me" culture that is going about.

Kids turning to violence? Why isn't our teachers doing anything.... because its the PERENTS job to rase the kid.

Bring back some kind of fear into there lives, as you can't even give a slap on the back of the hand.

If there are no concicences to an action, then in the mindset of a kid, there is nothing wrong. Same attitude with crime in sociaty.
