What about Cats?
I've seen cats yawn. If there is a big crowd of cats hanging out and one of them yawns, do all the other cats yawn?

It absolutely must be done.

that you yawn to equilize the pressure inside your eardrum to the exterior one. This causes a drop of the external pressure, which is felt by everyone in the room. That's why everyone is now forced to yawn in order to compensate.
FACT!

I always thought it was the brain signaling to the body that there is a lack of Oxygen in the blood stream and increasing the airflow to the broncule and holding it there for a few seconds to compensate .... learn something new every day
EDIT... Bloody medical training fails again

a yawn evolved as a silent mechanism to warn others of potential danger. The return yawn was acknowledgment.
While this is no longer of use to humans, our system is still set up that way.

Other people see it, and do the same, so that the herd has extra Oxygen, or extra alertness, so we can fight \ flee from baddies (like pirates)

At least you read the FAQ.
It doesn't include other things which tend to get frowned upon though, such as TOAP (Text On A Picture).
Bandwagons are a matter of personal taste. I subscribe to the view that if you see a bandwagon, it's too late - you've missed it, but some people like them.
The real trick to longevity around here is to have a thick skin.
