just make people feel like they've done something when, in actual fact, they haven't... but at least everyone feels better.
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 10:57, archived)
# that's the main thing
especially since coverage for the bleeding hearted stars running it causes their waning album sales to increase by 1000% in the months surrounding such an event. Feeeeed the haaaasbeeeens, let them know they still sell records....

# Fair trade is a great concept
Which is only going to get cheaper once more people buy into it, which will then make it more likely people will buy it (initial hurdle etc.)...but I wish people would stop scare mongering with sad tales of kids forced to work, and ridiculously small wages.
The truth is that a lot of those areas wouldn't survive if the kids didn't work, but the wages that seem shockingly low to us go a loooong way there.

I definitely support Fair Trade where possible, but that's what we should be after fair trade, not some unrealistic wage that would upset their economy

/end boring mini-rant

Edit: Gah, how rude! nice pickingture

# also British dairy farmers
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 10:59, archived)
# I use British bought products where possible, in particular dairy,
but i do not support fair trade. As a concept it sounds fluffy, but in reality it destroys communities with arbitrarily selected producers being made disproportionately wealthy and rendering the remaining population impoverished to the point of unsustainable life.

Boycott fair trade people, educate yourselves.
(, Wed 10 Oct 2007, 11:08, archived)
# I agree totally
plus, fair trade come with some surprising bonuses
