I liked Xen
I thought it was fun. *gonarches*

don't we put a giant testicle on a 20-foot-tall armored spider?", and Big Mama is born."

Answer: Nothing, the Pottery Fonz has little time for the Pope and was already pestering some teenagers.

I was MAJORLY disappointed by the lack of monsters in HL2, even though it's still a great game.

Make that next Christmas, because I'm still playing the first one, let alone Shadows of Undrentide or Hoardes of the Underdark (The expansions for it)
And I also want to replay Unreal Tournament ;)

for two hours and haven't picked it up again since.
I just hate these games that are touted as the 'OMFG you won't believ how fucking good this game is' and you ending up going back and playing soemthing much older like Donkey Kong World.

I don't think it's so much a case of over-hype as of you having a very poor attention span. You've missed the joys of the sand buggy, the laser guided RPG, being a bug master, gun tripods, cutting people in half with circular saw blades, tripods, drop ships, taking down large flying vehicles, shooting manhacks and watermelons at your enemies, hoppers, opperating a giant magnetic crane, a rather inspired part of the game where you have to very carefully lay out large objects around you so you don't set foot on the sand, having to roll grenades down floor turrets whilst under machine gun fire, leading teams of people their doom...
Oh, and a rotating blade mine cart of death!

For a true "oh, is that it?" ending, you can't beat Half Life 2.

JJ, could you put all of these game reviews together on your homepage like you have for "sequential art" & "spider & scorpion"? That way we can view them all again at a later date.
